Threat

Yeah, the “BernieBro” phenomenon is “someone I dislike disagreed with me.” To most liberals, that is a death threat. Having had a gun in my face, I know what a death threat feels like. It fucking isn’t slightly negative words on Twitter.

Backups

I love having good backups. Crucial license file got nuked today and I was able to restore it from backup in less than five minutes. Drop some ransomware on me and I won’t even notice it. Company will be back up in an hour.

Order, Order In The Fort

I was in a paratrooper unit, so what the military taught me was that orders are for people and units who need that sort of thing to complete their mission. We didn’t really have orders as most civilians think of them; we had missions and capabilities. It’s hard to give orders to units whose whole job is to be dropped behind enemy lines with minimal support and equipment, who have to improvise to do anything, and who are often separated from any command structure.

Starting Fires, Putting Out Fires

Ok, this is all painfully true. Why do you have to tell such hurtful verities? IT people run around fixing problems other IT people caused. Though to be fair, that is true of accounting, the legal profession, politicians…humanity.

No Henry

Joe Rogan’s Bernie Sanders endorsement revealed something important about the American left.

I am not a deontologist at all, which is I think why I break so hard from modern liberalism. And I think liberals are actually only deontological in leaning when it doesn’t benefit them, but are fine with a deontology violation when it does – such as nearly all pseudo-libs think it’s just peachy for Hillary Clinton to cozy up to the vile Henry Kissinger.

Here’s how that disagreement plays into the Rogan controversy. Shortly after the Rogan controversy broke out, Sanders fans started pulling out references to Henry Kissinger, the former secretary of state and arguable war criminal whose counsel Hillary Clinton welcomed in 2016.

By contrast, Joe Rogan endorsing Sanders is nothing at all. Kissinger is one of the biggest war criminals in history. Rogan has a podcast where he occasionally says something that mildly questions absurd trans ideology. The differences are…vast. Rogan isn’t to my taste and is pretty misogynist. But he is nothing like the vast evil that is Kissinger.

Joe Boredom

There are no circumstances in which I will vote for Joe Biden. Fuck what John Scalzi, the wannabe-Republican, says. His opinions are as tepid as his books.

Nominating Biden will be an enormous mistake. He will never win the general. Never. And that might be the whole point.

Gene Sheen

Especially at the elite level, genetics matters a lot more than hard work. Personality, too, which also is about 50% heritable. In other words, I could’ve worked ten times harder than Michael Jordan and I still wouldn’t have ever been able to play basketball even 1/10 as well as he does.

Just because people hate it doesn’t make it false.

Woodwork

People have just no idea how much real professional equipment costs. Let’s look at just monitors for a moment. Here is a (of a line commonly used in the industry) reference monitor that retails for $39,000. It’s only 4k.

The Apple Pro XDR display is 6K instead of 4K, also HDR, and the most expensive variant is only $6,000. It’s a fucking bargain, in other words.

Always goofy morons coming out of the woodwork to expound on shit they don’t know a fucking thing about.

Called

A call out? I’ll be calling out your name to wake you up as I’m standing over your bed with a big-ass knife. I want you to know it’s me before you’re done.
