Height filters are taking off on dating apps. Are they getting in the way of finding true love?

My thoughts are is that we should let the women obsessed with height have these filters. I mean, this no longer affects me directly unless my partner gets run over by a Cybertruck or decides she’s tired of a grumpy old paratrooper.

As we all know, though, many women are in fact extremely fixated to an unhealthy degree on height¹, even to the point of shaming their “friends” who date someone they deem “not tall enough.” (Far more than men are allegedly obsessed with boobs.) And these are invariably intolerably terrible women.

So, men, my advice is so let these women sort themselves out of your lives. Sure, that might mean being single for longer. But why would you want to be with someone not really into you anyway?

These women are truly only hurting themselves. My advice is to let them. It is amusing to watch them carp about not being able to find anyone and then die alone.

This article attempts to “both-sides” it but most men don’t give a crap about height, while many more women do.

Nearly no users can Google effectively yet still get upset when you in IT Google for an answer — even though they spent hours looking for something that I can do a successful ten-second search for and fix in less than a minute. As this comment mentions, the difference is that I know how to use the information found and that they do not. Nor do they even know what to search for in the first damn place.

But as another comment points out, you’ve achieved enlightenment when you’re able to solve things that cannot be Googled, that no AI can answer.

And I do that every day.

Even though I am generally a supporter of eugenics actually doing this plausibly is ridiculously hard: Polygenic scores aren’t environmentally robust. Pleiotropy and epistasis mean that when you alter one (what you wrongly think is a) monogenic trait, you’re probably going to get effects elsewhere almost inevitably since our knowledge is very limited here.

We cannot actually do eugenics because of this and many other reasons. We need more tech and we need more insight. And we should work on that.
