Sweet. The right decision. No reason to shoot yourself in the face like Germany did.
Cool
Solar Pan
Even in dismal months like this one where there is not that much sun compared to summer, due to our solar panels we only spend about $3 a day on electricity as long as the weather is mild.
And that’s pretty awesome.
Given Better
Unusual to see someone change their mind given better evidence. That is incredibly rare. I applaud this dude, not just because he agrees with me but because that is something that very few humans ever do.
Auth Vint Aus
I like this photo of Hazel English because it’s one of the few vintage look attempts that has an authentic hairstyle from the mid- to late-60s with an actual bit of clothing that would’ve been worn by someone with that hairstyle. In addition, her makeup is era-accurate, which many vintage cosplay types also get wrong.
Most people way overdo it when they attempt to look like someone from a different time. But Hazel and her stylist got it exactly right.
Formation
Amazing how beautiful nearly anyone can be if they do not treat themselves like a living dumpster. What a transformation, goddamn.
I love how angry that type of thing makes the dying FA movement.
Heavy Questions
Is my phone actually heavier when it’s 100% charged compared to 0%?
This is where you can actually use E=MC2 to figure out the answer. It’s not even difficult math, as such things go. In fact, it’s dead simple.
I’ll spare you the full math (though it just involves converting the Wh into joules, then figuring out the mass added by energy increase with E=MC2) It is just a simple identity, essentially. Just how the universe works.
So, charging an iPhone from 0% to 100% stores about 49,320 joules of energy (for a 13.7Wh battery). By massโenergy equivalence, that stored energy gives us an added mass of about 550 picograms. Or if you want to be exact that is around 0.000000000548759 grams.
These questions have pretty exact and easy answers but Reddit types never seem to realize that.
10PB
Damn.
You’re talking 7โ10 kW of power to run something like that, depending on current disk sizing and exact server hardware used. Depending on where you live just running all that alone would be $1,300 a month in power costs on a residential plan.
That is some serious storage.
Big Cash
What is the most money you have made in 24 hours?
~$100,000 in 1998.
Amazon and Yahoo stocks, as well as some others. Bought them, they went up 400%, sold them. That’d be nearly $200,000 in today’s money.
Those were some wild times. I’ve never had as much fun while also white-knuckling it. And that’s also why I don’t seriously day-trade anymore.
18 to Now
Sopro TTS: A lightweight text-to-speech model with zero-shot voice cloning.
This tool only requires 3-12 seconds of audio to do voice cloning. And it’s not even a very large model. The Reddit “wisdom” is that voice cloning takes hours of audio and/or is “impossible.”
And, sure, voice cloning did require that much audio — in 2018. Things are changing faster than people can keep up.
1980 Heavy
We should do that. In that respect, 1980 was better.
Right Way
Just checked and my ISP is a good one. It does not offer nor support IPv6.
That’s awesome. I hope it never supports it.
How You Do Policy
In a way, massive US government support for Tesla and SpaceX could be considered some of the most successful industrial policy efforts in US history.

Indeed. Worldwide ROI on that (including kicking off viable electric vehicles) is in the +$2 trillion neighborhood, and rapidly increasing. And that’s how you do it if you want to win.
From ’89
Not that long before this was written in 1989, all of it was “nerd fantasy.” But now, more than 30 years later, just about all of the engineering written about there — which would’ve seemed impossible to someone from 1889 — is obsolete tech. It’s all been replaced by better and much cheaper, safer and more reliable hardware to achieve the same result.
I hate pseudo-progressives and degrowthers so so much.
The Burden
One of the disadvantages of being loaded and having the awesomest girlfriend in the known universe is that you spend a lot lot of time wrapping presents before Christmas.
Using the Tool
I wrote a right-click (context menu) search extension with the help of AI in 25-ish hours of work and prompting that would’ve taken me 500+ hours to complete on my own, and for a competent programmer probably would’ve been in the 150 hour range.
Huge returns if you know what you’re doing.
My tool has more features, a better UI, is more extensible and is easier to use than any other similar extension out there. It’s not even close. Mine is just better by every measure that matters. And there’s no way I would’ve bothered to create it without AI.
