This is a good song, but it’d really shine with a better (or any) producer. The instruments need more separation and better mixing. The vocals are too muted and the percussion is too far back and too static. But they have a lot of talent so it is still quality shoegaze.

I like the song and enjoy the colors in the video, but it should’ve had more ideas. It’s too aimless. But the color is nice.

I like this because it doesn’t feel like anything else made now. It’s a bit reminiscent of a lot of indie rock that was produced during the very late 1980s, though.

This video feels lazy. I’d much rather see her playing her bass, because she’s amazing at that.

That said, it’s hard to look cute in a black backless body suit and she does that, so it’s not a total loss. The below, though, is more my style. OMG that bass. I wish I could play anything like she plays the bass.

Just such a great video. I watch it every few months. What looks easy here is actually hard. The shoot itself takes only a few hundred dollars worth of equipment if you rent it but coaxing your subject into being so static yet interesting for more than three minutes is an art. And that’s not easy at all.

I was hoping the uniqueness and pure force of Lorde’s first album was presaging a cultural shift. Alas, it did not. And we haven’t had one of those in a long time, no matter what some clowns claim. But I hope we do still one day.

Really unique sound. Great vocals. I like the creepy-ass people-as-mannequins moving around subtly in the background. Nice touch.

I don’t even like the song that much but Taylor’s voice is amazing. She has such control while singing so loud. Also, blonde goth girls are the rarest species of true goths. They are becoming endangered and should be protected at all costs¹.
