And at the places that do have staff, the staff are new, unmotivated, poorly trained, and just generally muddling through this job they clearly don't plan to keep for much longer. https://t.co/TyLWYFxgjs

I often go to places now where I know more about the selection and products than the actual staff. Rarely happened before the pandemic, unless it was tech-related. Very strange time.
Went to the gym today for the first time since March 2020. Oh, how I've missed the simple pleasure of stair climber machines AND weight machines in the same location.
I salute people who can stick to a rigorous home workout routine.
But I don't understand them.

It’s soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much easier to work out at home! Everything you need is just right there, and no excuses. Even if you’re doing bodyweight stuff, just do it (insert Nike swish here). No wasting 45+ minutes getting ready, driving/walking to the gym, etc. It’s so easy compared to the alternative.
People who can only work out in a gym mystify me completely. That’s so much harder.
I like the behind the scenes stuff, and Emma Dumont is at 7:16 if anyone is interested. Sutton Foster is so charming, though.
I know I’ve embedded this before but Koffee’s performance is just so iconic:
One of the best live performances of all time, in any genre.
It says a lot about the barrenness and lack of imagination of our age that megaton-level putzes like Yglesias think things like the Moon landing were pointless wastes of time while they also claim efforts like Medicare for All are impossible.
These two facts are extremely related.
Holy fuck, this thread is deeply stupid and ahistorical. No disease save smallpox has ever been eliminated in humans, and that only occurred because its only host is humans.
But ZeroCovid is a religion that never had any basis in reality or the world at all. Like all religions, it has a doctrine, zealots, rituals, etc. And like a lot of religions, hurts tons of people for no real reason.
I think the very worst feature of humanity is that when someone is lonely and seems desperate, that makes everyone less likely to interact with them, not more.
Yes, sure, it relates to our evolutionary history (though libs will never admit this), but that doesn’t make it right or acceptable.
What's the evolutionary psychology behind kids not wanting to go to bed at the same time as their parents want them to?

For me it was simply: not being fucking sleepy. If I had been sleepy, I would’ve been fine with going to bed.
