I hope everyone who reads this is intelligent enough to realize that the censoring of Craigslist, Backpage, and other sites has nothing to do with illegal “trafficking” and everything to do with larger rivals’ (Facebook, Amazon, et al.) interference, competition prevention and competitive moat creation and enforcement, right?

To them and to the prudes, it doesn’t matter that several thousand more sex workers will be harmed and killed every year, and that what human trafficking there is will be much, much harder to get leads on and to investigate now.

Of course this also has to do with general American extreme prudishness, but that’s not what was driving the creation of such laws in the main. Nope. It’s about well-funded rivals eliminating competition. Guarantee that’s where the money behind it was, and the reason it happened and will continue to happen.

“Sex” is just the moral fear word that gets people animated to take action in America.
