I like most of Laurie Penny’s writing quite a lot, but this kind of self-flagellating is what hobbles the left beyond all measure.

No one is asking your story to be representative of all stories, and everyone worth listening to knows that is not what you or anyone is attempting. This is one of the major reasons why the left can’t get anything done — always in the game of oppression olympics, defending against oppression olympics, or in the back closet whipping themselves bloody because they are white or cis-presenting or some other horseshit like that.

This gets nothing done. Identity politics ruined the left politically. Seems to be getting worse rather than better.

One of the many, many reasons I love my partner is that she has never once told me to “just relax” or anything even vaguely like that.

I am intense by nature. Watchful. My life experiences only heightened these tendencies. It’s not going away, nor do I want it to. I am not nervous, afraid, anxious or unhappy. I am just intense and alert. This is my default state. There is nothing wrong with me or with it. There is absolutely nothing to fix. Telling me to “just relax” won’t do anything but make sure I avoid you in the future.

This is me — not relaxing since 1976, and loving every minute of it.

The rule of modern software is to never, ever upgrade. Just don’t do it. You will regret it. Functionality will be removed, fonts will looks like some asstastic 1980s relic, and your data will be spewed hither and yon.

And you’ll also as an added bonus have loads of utter morons telling you how it’s “improved” and you just “hate change” and who needs privacy anyway?

Well, I wanted to read this book but that’s a bit rich for my blood.

Who buys that? And why? So many books essentially lost or unavailable due to copyright. This book should be in the public domain, like most any book published before 1990 or so.

I guess if your entire product is a terrible piece of crap, your logo might as well reflect that, too. Those logos are all derivative, undistinguishable monkey ass detritus. Why bother anyway with a product that’s already flushed itself down the toilet?
