Children born in September 11, 2001 are 17. They are old enough to drive, and one year shy of being able to vote. The U.S. has been at war in Afghanistan for the entirety of their lives.

They are also old enough to fight and die in our forever wars. You can join the military at 17 with parental consent (I know because I did just that).
