Bumbler

Tumblr’s priorities, a list.

Nazis: good.

Fascists: good.

Boobs: bad.

Sumo wrestlers: bad.

White Supremacists: doubleplusgood.

Shows you where capitalism’s priorities are, yeah? It naturally morphs into fascism over time. Tumblr demonstrates just that.

Upturned Noses

Brilliant post.

This is a story that keeps repeating itself in different eras and different places. Capital has learned how to make itself look very seductive to the Leftists. It says all the right things, it doesnโ€™t permit itself to give off even a whiff of un-PC ideas. Capital just smells nice. And those unhappy, angry workers can never win that competition. They can never manage to use the correct slogans or show up at a convenient time.

This is also how #metoo became more about policing assortative mating and class than harassment and assault prevention.

Turns out real life is complicated and actual people are messy, uncouth, and have their own desires. It’s hard for “educated” leftists to handle that.

Grating In

This is 80% at least of liberal “compassion” and desire for open borders and mass immigration right here. Otherwise, they would not be so very passionate about it. Need that cheap labor, ya’ll.

Ment Mint

I’m glad I turned off comments on my blog. This is mainly a place to hear myself rant and ramble. I attempt to offend or confuse, as mentioned, enough people to keep the readership to about 20 people, and I have done that successfully for a long time. I will likely never turn them on again because I don’t care about community and any commentary can be done elsewhere. Such it is and such it shall be.

About

Yeah, sounds about right.

Mumbler

No one seems to have noticed or picked up on my idea that Tumblr is killing itself primarily so Verizon can suppress where many young people learn about Net Neutrality.

Which is what I expect; about 20 people read this blog regularly, and I like it that way. I attempt to write just enough offensive or abstruse stuff to keep it that way. When I notice readership ticking up, I say some outrageous shit or write something recondite and philosophical and those people all disappear quickly.

But still, I think I am right about the whole Verizon/Net Neutrality thing.

Perf

Container/Kubernetes-focused people are obsessed with performance testing because without an all-out effort, performance is absolute shit.

In a real environment, you don’t need to do much perf testing because it’s so far above the requirements that testing is only needed on the off chance it starts getting wonky under stress.

Containers: very young people making mistakes we made many years ago, to learn the same lessons we already learned, to repeat it all again unto infinity. Yay.

Crap Living

This is why I can’t live in any of the marquee cities that are supposed to be so great.

When my Midwestern family would come to visit me in NYC or SF, they would be shocked at my low standard of living. I had to explain that many of the things that they took for granted at home are extreme luxuries in Manhattan. You know, things like:

  • A dishwasher
  • A in-unit washer and dryer. For many NYC-dwellers, having one’s own washer and dryer gives the feeling of having “made it”.
  • A spare bedroom for hosting out-of-town visitors
  • Central heating, ventilation, and air conditioning
  • Enough space to have people over or host dinner parties
  • A kitchen area that can fit more than one person
  • A comfortable and separate area to work at home

This, and worse, is how many liberals think everyone should live. Screw that noise. A future of concrete boxes with no amenities at all is pointless and has nothing to do with human flourishing. And it won’t even save the earth, as they imagine. But in the puritan-based mindset of (particularly) American liberals, suffering is its own virtue and proves one is on the righteous path.

To have the same standard of living I have now in FL and NC, I’d have to make something like $300,000 a year. Perhaps a bit more these days.

You know what, I want enough room for my exercise equipment. Otherwise, I’d never work out as I just can’t do gyms. I want an area I can get work done that’s quiet. I want a dishwasher. I want a fucking kitchen that can fit more than one person. I want a back yard. I want to not live in concrete box with a million noisy halfwits.

If that’s wrong, I don’t want to be right.
