PC PC

Ever since the advent of the PC, (mainly) large companies have wanted to kill it due to how much control it gives the user. Won’t be long before that comes to pass.

The whole thread is worth reading but I figure PCs in their current form have another 3-5 years before they are essentially banned by licensing and piracy/security “concerns.” Right now, PCs are great as the smartphone droolers offer no competition in the job market at all and are getting increasingly further behind due to the incompetence this causes. Not sure what happens after, though.

PCs were always a lucky anomaly, and the most power any human has ever had individually. Couldn’t last. Steve Jobs said the PC is a “bicycle for the mind.” Smartphones and cloud crap are like a four-foot slot car track for the mind, beset with limitations and with no way to expand it.

Tincture

Mine is that we should be engaging in massive and authoritarian population control measures as the only real hope of avoiding possible mass extinction in 50-150 years.

Sure, I recognize the human rights issues. But it’s either that or we’re goners.

In The Ethics Of It

This is something I didn’t understand until I read Lance Mannion’s hooey on how Bernie Sanders was not corrupt enough to be a real politician, and how that was one of the reasons Mannion didn’t support him. Of course he didn’t say “corrupt,” he just said that Sanders hadn’t been forced to make moral compromises and to accept money from lobbyists, therefore he was not adequately-suborned by outside interests and thus could not govern.

Of course, that == corruption.

For the most part, Boomers do not want good politicians. They want the status quo, and that is achieved easily by compromised milquetoasts like Obama, and corrupt-to-the-core old yellow bellies like Biden.

Tail As Old As Time

Considering tail puts on $SPY. Options are not usually something I play with, but the stock market risk right now is very high and that’s when using puts makes sense. Five-hundred dollars a month might mean the difference between losing 70% and not.

Insurance is never cheap but sometimes it’s worth it.

SexPref

A whole lot of people’s idea of liberation is asserting the wrongness of other’s sexual preferences while using the most tortured logic imaginable to justify their own particular proclivities and ideals.

Generally, humans are nothing if not huge hypocrites.

All Lose

Windows 10 is shitty and full of Microsoft-installed spyware and malware, and Mac OS is shiity due to horrific fonts now.

No good OS to use. Don’t even talk to me about Linux. It can’t even handle 4K correctly, much much less multiple monitors at different resolutions.

It’s back to the 1980s, OS-wise. They are all terrible and unusable piles of detritus.
