Well, Florida doesn’t even have to bother purging me. They won’t let me register at all for unknown reasons.

I’m studying for an advanced certification (to be revealed later) in my industry and I have 59 pages of notes already.
Jesus fucking Christ. I am good at memorization, but this is ridiculous.
Everything is going to get so weird and a lot people arenโt going to be prepared for it https://t.co/IjLNxQ9Bck

Yeah. Just wait till the next recession hits in 1-2 years. Things are going to get wild. The next 10 years of American politics are going to resemble the 1930s. I hope we won’t get a world war out of it, but with climate change it’s pretty likely.
The left’s view of nationalism is utterly absurd. It’s more Saturday morning cartoon than fact.
Nationalism allows a polity to act as one to do things that would otherwise be impossible, such as the New Deal or fighting WWII.
When you wish for the death of nationalism, be careful what you wish for. You may well get it. And then there goes most social protections and safety net, no Green New Deal, definitely not Medicare for All. Can the left really be this clueless? Yes, yes they can.

WTF. If I saw that in a movie, I’d be certain it was CGI.
The St Petersburg vegans cooking up a revolution.
Anytime I see photos of vegans who don’t cheat, they always look like fucking corpses. Do any of those people look healthy to you? I think I could push them all over with a willow catkin. Some of them look really quite bad.
One of the books I’m reading is Semiosis by Sue Burke. I like it pretty well. She has a decent grasp of systems and sociology, which goes a long way with me.
There’s a character in the book not much like me in most ways, but I still identify with him quite a bit. The reason is that not much in the human sphere comes naturally to him, but he still tries to be decent. This quote from him is also emblematic of how I often feel: “I’m not naturally kind. I’m intentionally kind. I have to figure out what to do, I don’t do it automatically.”
For that reason, like me, he’s often misread by people. I don’t know how to react normally to much. In many ways, my reactions are all an elaborate act. When I am alone, were you to film me, I would probably seem much like a robot. Recently, I don’t remember exactly what I was talking about, but it’s common so it could’ve been anything. Anyway, I was talking to my partner and I mentioned that one of the many reasons I liked being around her was that I didn’t have to pretend to be startled by or afraid of things to have some semblance of normal reactions to events. It’s a real relief.
It’s not that I don’t have any emotions, it’s just that they don’t impinge much on my consciousness. I think I was largely naturally this way to a great extent, but that being bullied and beat on as a kid solidified it.
Regardless, it’s great having a partner where I don’t have to pretend to react to things to seem normal. That gets very tiring.
This is the only cover of “Time of the Season” that is any good, and they somehow managed to do it without the iconic Mellotron synth. If you’d asked me before I would’ve said it was just not possible.
I’ve always liked this song because it’s supposed to be a love song but it also sounds menacing in a peculiar way. The twins understood this, obviously (as they released it on Halloween), so it succeeded as a cover.
I wish gender weren’t so emphasized in society, but at the same time fighting against gender is like fighting the ocean. It’s mostly a waste of time and won’t change much. Most people believe in gender, a lot of it is fun, and it’s probably ineradicable. Most likely small changes can be made on the margins, but gender will rotate around an axis (or several) and not change much over time, just vary a bit in a cycle.
It’s not so odd when somewhere already very poor — like Somalia — becomes a failed state. But it is strange when it’s somewhere extremely rich, like California. Then there is no question that it was a choice, that it didn’t have to happen but enough people wanted it to occur, so it did.

Aurora, you might well be an alien, but that only makes you better.
Music writers are always like, “Streaming services have every song EVER RECORDED so there’s no reason for MP3s EVER AGAIN!”
And then I look on there, and half the songs I want to listen to aren’t there. Why would I use those services?
