It’s telling that a lot of progressives want to ban Halloween because (they say) it’s all about people trying on identities that are not “authentic,” as if anyone knows what an authentic identity is. As if any of those mooks have a clue about anything.

What they really want is to arrogate power to themselves, to control how people live and what they think, who they can strive to be.

In their view, which is very Zuckerbergian, we are always supposed to present some ever-present authentic identity. Just as we should only write about people exactly like us in every way, we should only showing our real face, our real self, to the world at all times. This, to them, is the only way to avoid being offensive. Personality and selfhood, however, doesn’t and never has worked that way — but let’s ignore all that for a moment as it’s too deep to explore in a blog post tossed off in three minutes.

Really, the progressives want to take away Halloween because it’s fun, and most of them are not just sexual prudes, but are in fact all-encompassing prudes who deeply desire to be dull bores. Identity bullshit is their excuse, their entrepôt into making us all as dirt-boring as them by using contemporary stylistics to force a bit more prudishness into our lives.

Most of the liberal fantasies are just as stupid as the conservative fantasies, though less cruel. That does matter but some of the stupid shit liberals come up with is truly mind-blowing in its shocking naïveté.

They tell old people to:

Eat less animal protein.
Take it easy.
Retire.
Take the elevator.
Avoid heavy weights.
Kiss your cartilage goodbye.

Yep. You should be eating meat, stressing your body as hard as you can without injury as you get older. Walk a lot. Lift weights. Why is so much fitness and nutrition advice just utter nonsense? Oh, right: capitalism.

It is self-inflicted. I’m always surprised when I travel to other countries and services like mass transit and health care just work and don’t look to be in complete shambles. The centrist cry of “nothing is possible” is easily disproven by visiting nearly anywhere that’s not the US. The fact that a majority of people have never or very rarely travel outside of the country is probably the only way this deception is so easily promulgated. Note that this is true in many countries far poorer than the US, so it’s not just a matter of money.

Rep. Katie Hill decries ‘dirtiest gutter politics I’ve seen’ in fiery farewell speech. “I’m leaving because of a misogynistic culture that gleefully consumed my naked pictures,” Hill told her colleagues on the House floor.

Good for her. She never should have resigned, though I am sure Pelosi was forcing her. And all the other “progressives,” too. Fuck all ya’ll.
