Lieberals

Liberals are completely and utterly delusional:

Contrast that with this:

Schmitt is someone whose writing I generally like, but she’s a standard-issue liberal, which means her ideas are laughable outside her realm of knowledge.

Obama had many choices, and a great deal of power. He chose to help bankers over homeowners, crooks over the middle class. And this was a choice — even where he had complete discretion and absolute power, he still did not do the right thing. It does’t take a goddamn political genius to do the right thing when you have the power to do it. All it takes is wanting to do it.

Style

What kind of dipshit posts braindead crap like this?

George W. Bush started a war in Iraq that killed somewhere around 2.4 million Iraqis. Donald Trump has barely even scratched the surface of the first atom of atrocities like that.

This just shows that “liberals” do care far more about style over substance, appearance over actions, and what makes them feel good is what will rule the day.

No, I don’t like Trump either and didn’t vote for him, but come the fuck on. Fucking morons.

Philosophy Powered

So glad I didn’t become one of the STEM nerds who doesn’t read philosophy. Partially because STEM nerds don’t read it, philosophy gives you intellectual superpowers.

You learn some area of math or science deeply, eventually you start learning less of consequence as your scope narrows. This is necessary but it is extremely limiting. However, learning philosophy is the opposite — it is the gateway to thinking systemically and it makes you appear to have ridiculous powers of observation and prescience.

I’ve read hundreds of economics books. I don’t even know how many economics textbooks. Probably more than 30. And reading Jean Baudrillard taught me more about the present economic system and its hidden mechanisms and leitmotif than all those books, roughly.

Here’s the thing, though. No, it’s not a conspiracy, but in general the press, academics, teachers, all those people don’t want you to think about the system and how it functions. They don’t have any interest at all (as it is against their interests) in your ability to understand things more deeply. The reason the mantra is “Shut up and calculate!” is to preclude any possibility of thoroughly understanding something, anything — because the moment you do that, you have the power to potentially change or destroy it.

This is why philosophy is a superpower. Now get to reading.

Corp Sex

I think the reason we’ve concentrated so much on sexual harassment at the expense of all other extremely harmful corporate and interpersonal behaviors is that controlling sexuality is paramount for the corporate neoliberal project to even be able to continue. All other human urges and behaviors stand no chance of defeating that behemoth; sexuality is probably the only compulsion that can. Therefore, it must be bottled up as tightly as it possibly can be.

This will be an extremely unpopular opinion because it is contra the standard narrative but unfortunately the standard narrative is almost always wrong.

Veracity

Very basic fact people don’t seem to understand, or to want to understand: it’s not a conspiracy theory if it’s true.

Hearing things that definitely happened labeled “conspiracy theories” is not new, but it has increased enormously lately as the past is successfully re-written.

Programmed

My partner is a far better programmer and scripter than I will ever be and I have no problem with this. In fact, it’s great. It means I can get help when I need it and problems that would take me hours to days to solve often get completed in minutes with her help in this realm.

With my infrastructure and networking knowledge and her programming abilities, we kick some ass, y’all.

Such Evil

I have been a bit shocked by the ridiculous naรฏvetรฉ of too many people lately.

Part of it is that they just don’t want to believe reality is in fact as it is. Another is that propaganda works very well indeed, and is particularly efficacious against centrist types.

So FAr Gone

This is true and it is appalling, and that mentality is spreading.

But I don’t completely blame those who believe this. It’s being pushed as propaganda far and wide by food corporations and their extensions, such as the Fat Acceptance movement. The fact is that most people are hugely susceptible to propaganda, and all of us are to some extent vulnerable due to the way the human mind works. There are billions and billions of dollars behind this effort and only a few dozen million behind fitness and eating correctly. Who do you think is going to win with such an imbalance?

When you step back to think about it for a moment, though, it is flabbergasting to consider that perfectly normal exercise and portion control is now regarded by a significant and growing percentage of the population as an eating disorder.

Obvfrastructure

I know I am in the right field because I see the things I do as uncomplicated and obvious, while others apparently see it all as incomprehensible and interminably difficult. (I work in infrastructure, mainly.)

Whereas I see programming as just a slog and a huge mess of unfathomable code and weird characters used inexplicably and apparently at random. Though I do near-programming (lots of scripting), I will never like it and do the bare minimum possible for my career.

Consp

“Conspiracy theory” is becoming the “fake news” of centrists. They now use that to attempt to diminish anything they dislike.

As a friend of mine pointed out, that is hilarious coming from the same people pushing the bogus “Russiagate” crap for two years straight.
