Mostly explained by greed. It’s easy to cheat and win small over time, reliably. But what they want and attempt to do is to cheat and win big fast.
That is what leads to foot-shooting and diaster. Also, most of them aren’t very smart.
So many things I assume people just know…they don’t.
I rarely trust people who aren’t autodidacts because credentials are too easy to achieve while knowing little.
But if you’re an autodidact, you really have to know your shit to get anywhere.

Anyway, one of the best illustrations I’ve seen of that is not with a man, but Rhonda Rousey at her weigh-in vs. her fight weight. Note that these photos were taken only about 24 hours apart:
Why the huge difference? Mostly dehydration. To get in a lower weight class, she would’ve been actively purging water, not drinking, and using other techniques to drop weight. That’s about a 15-20 pound weight difference there in a single day.
Nearly any male actors you see in movies/shows also do this if they have any shirtless scenes.

This is very common now. If you are against jobs being shipped overseas: racism! If you don’t agree that banksters should own and control everything: anti-semitism! If you are against the destruction of labor and the working class by open borders policies: racism again!
You get the idea. The left/progressives are now fully behind the woke capital self-serving conviction that if it’s against capital and its imperatives, it is definitionally racism or anti-semitism.

I am a veteran and wars are a way of enriching military contractors and mercenaries, sowing chaos for the financial benefit of those already wealthy, and helping politicans look “tough” to help get them re-elected.
This is generally true of all modern wars. I cannot think of an exception.
Ed is right. Blogging is basically dead for all practical purposes, and what a loss.
The other issue at play, and this is an ongoing problem, is that blogging is a dead art form. Social media won. People are down to visiting all of, what, four websites? And anything that isn’t channeled through that medium doesn’t exist.
Social media is so inferior; the worst dominate all. All nuance is lost as the level of discourse is that of third-graders squabbling over a piece of candy. And podcasts are incredibly slow and 80% boring. I have no time for those. I can read at least a dozen times faster than a podcast can tell me anything. As one commenter sort of points out, one can enjoy reading something, but audio must be endured.

When I was young, adults of all stripes fell all over themselves telling me how difficult it was being an adult. It was all lies. Compared to what I endured as a kid, being an adult is fun and easy. And I say that as someone who spent five hard but rewarding years as a paratrooper. That was still easier than being a kid.
I am not certain why the compulsion to prevarication here. Was it an attempt to prevent us from being soft?
Given that I was not in any way a normal kid, perhaps I was an outlier. But in this area I don’t think so.

Was thinking about joining a book club to get some outside of work social contact, and then I thought the one I was interested in was a women-only book club because literally every confirmed attendee of the next event was a woman.
Nope, but apparently pretty much only women join these and actually attend. Well, that’s just fine with me — I am not complaining at all. I didn’t fully realize, though, just how much reading is something women utterly dominate now.
