The nightmare scenario is indeed deflation combined with resurgence of the pandemic in fall. If we can avoid this, which I doubt, an economic recovery might be possible.
I give the nightmare scenario about a 60% chance at this point. Prepare accordingly.
Today I discovered BOTH of my brothers thought that panty liners/sanitary towels were stuck directly onto the wearer’s flaps, not to their underwear. Apparently they thought the adhesive was to “seal it shut”. One of them is married.

That’s what you think. I’ve seen the vile constabulary queen oozing her sludge-coated, fetid cobalt eggsacs into the gaps between the putrefying ova remnants of already-hatched cops and it’s a sight one never forgets.

I hear you. I started to read N.K. Jemisin’s The City We Became and it features a done-to-death “city becoming sentient/monstrous” theme and an extremely annoying first-person narrator. Also, the prose itself reads like something copied and pasted from a multitude of early 2000s urban fantasy books (none of which were good, either).
I read about twenty pages and vowed not to continue. No thanks.
