Yes I Can

This kind of shit is why I love having some money.

Not at a job but a job interview one time. It was going terribly wrong. The interviewer was a jerk and I was done with it all. I said, “Well, I’m leaving. This isn’t going to work out.”

He said, shocked, “Wait, you can’t just leave!”

I stood up, looked at him and said, “Yes I can” and walked right on out of there onto the street, smiling. Can’t pull that kind of crap unless you have funds enough that you aren’t desperate for a job. I’m incredibly lucky and I appreciate my good fortune and I will and do use it to put schmucks like that in their place.

Remind

A reminder: three months ago or so, our “experts” were telling us that masks were useless, not wanting to shake hands was racist, and restricting travel was too.

Now think about that the next time those experts tell you something.

Killing G

Why You Should Think of Risk as a Spectrum.

Finally, some sense.

But thereโ€™s no simple equivalent for our current problem, which is avoiding getting sick with COVID-19 and trying not to be a stepping stone for the virus to spread from one person to another. If you canโ€™t abide by strict stay-at-home rules (which were only ever supposed to be a short term fix, and are certainly not an easy way to live oneโ€™s whole life), itโ€™s time to start thinking of risk as a spectrum.

But the libs say if you don’t want to stay at home for years, you wanna kill GRAMMMMAAAAA. And why do you want to kill gramma, you gramma-killer?

More seriously, she’s right. The lockdowns were only supposed to be a temporary fix. At most, society can sustain those for 2-3 months before the economy flies apart like a washing machine that you throw a brick into when it’s on spin cycle.

I don’t really give a fuck about the deontological fantasies of the liberals. They have no clue about anything. I’ve seen many of them advocating two-year-long lockdowns. Ok, then. Hope they enjoy feasting on the leather from their own shoes at that point.

Low B

Yep. You can kinda see my abs now, but if I wanted a six-pack I could have one in two weeks if I just did some fasting.

Having a six-pack is not any sign of fitness. It just means you have low bodyfat (for a man, usually 10% or below). Here’s the thing, though: I am still attempting to gain muscle, not look ripped shirtless. That means I don’t want really low bodyfat. That is inimical to my goals.

Di False

And yet as with climate change, that does not prevent a person or a society from acting correctly now, even with imperfect knowledge.

I don’t like this framing because it implies that without the complete picture, we can do nothing. But that is just not the case. We knew the right actions to undertake to break the pandemic and ameliorate its effects, we just did not do them.

Simple as that.

Fan Fun

I’ve only glanced at the stuff on Onlyfans by way of Reddit a few times and it’s not for me, but this is 1000x cuter and sexier than anything I’ve seen emerging from there.

Still would not pay for it unless it were an actual friend of mine, but at least it looks like she’s actually having fun!

Not Cooler At All

He is correct. You can’t hollow out the bottom of your economy and expect the rest to just be untouched. It just cannot and will not work that way. Unfortunately, neither progressives nor the right understand the economy nor complex dynamic systems and how they fracture, so they don’t recognize the calamity that is still approaching. (And progressives really don’t understand how the economy functions at all.)

We’re in a state now that no matter what happens with the coronavirus — even if we develop a vaccine in the next year — a large depression is a fait accompli of our past and present actions.

The economy is large. There has been a shockwave created. This surging wave will inevitably cause a tsunami on a far shore. That shore is the top half of the economy. Because the economy is large, that tsunami takes a while to arrive. I’d say in 3-4 months things will get substantially worse, and then in fall as the second major wave of the pandemic hits many people in the US will actually start to starve.

Many of those in the top 10 percent will fall out of it. (Though, definitionally, there will always be a top 10 percent.) Poverty will increase. Food insecurity will be known by many who’ve never had to contemplate such a thing.

Later, I’ll write a post on how to realistically prepare. Summer will be mild for the virus and for food shortages. Now is the time to start. Believe me or not, wouldn’t you rather be prepared than left with no options?

Barred

This is the future. Will be here soon enough.

To be clear, I think living in the pod and drinking cockroach milk is debasing while doing the Onlyfans thing is not — but what is debasing in the meta sense about either path is that for many, those will be the only choices if they want to survive.

Welcome to the new economy.
