Sense Or Ship

Censorship always seems like a good idea until it turns on you. Then it’ll be, once again, “hoocoodanode?”

Staging

The best way to tell you’ve become a good photographer is that a significant percentage of the people who see your work accuse you of the photos being “staged.”

Why yes, I staged that bird landing there. I am like Snow fucking White — I have the goodwill of all animalkind, and can control the weather, too! I’m like some blend of Storm from X-Men and Cinderella, all in the service of a more perfect photo. Right-o, buddy. You got me.

Masterful

There’s a new trend in programming — we must change our software so as not to, internally, invisibly to users, use terms like black or white, master or slave, etc.

The problem is that the word bans never end, and they never help. It’s just performative nonsense, just as with the banned Scrabble words. Prosecuting thoughtcrime doesn’t change the world because the system is still there.

It makes libs happy because they understand the world through the interface of words, but matters very little in the end other than making them feel like they are doing something while forestalling real action.

Y’all Still Back There?

Epidemiologists and demographers painted a dark picture in conversations with TPM, estimating that total U.S. COVID-19 deaths this calendar year could range from 260,000 to 500,000.

Glad the “experts” are catching up with me. Here’s what I wrote way back in April.

Iโ€™m guessing the eventual Covid-19 death toll from the beginning and up to the next eight months will be 300,000 in the US.

I hate being right, but I’d rather be right than an utter dumbass. I’m still predicting around 300K. No one listens to me because I have no shiny credentials, yet I am right more than they are. Fancy that.

Baddamn

Very bad things ahead for the US. As I said there would be.

This was an easy prediction to make; one of the easiest. It’s not my problem how many of you are in denial. Even beyond the effects of the pandemic, the plutes are using this opportunity to remake the economy as they prefer it to be: more people in precarious positions, more gigs and contingent labor, with higher unemployment as a default. This keeps wages low.

The move to neo-feudalism proceeds, greatly accelerated by the virus and its effects.

AC Me

Here’s why having air conditioning in Florida is a must: it was over 82 degrees outside after midnight tonight. And we don’t live in an urban heat island.

So when some dumbass northern lib says AC isn’t necessary, realize they live in Frigistan, Minnesota, and need AC for half a day a year.
