It Was Them

Oh Jesus Christ. You foist on us — once again — an incredibly weak candidate, a senile barely-coherent ancient doddering lady-sniffer, and then blame the voters for not getting excited about such a weak offering.

I mean, Biden is likely to just barely squeak out a narrow win in the face of an historically-unpopular president in a pandemic during a de facto depression. I don’t think it’s the voters who are to blame here, really.

“I love science” and “believe science” are clueless takes, just incoherent philosophies. I don’t love science or believe it or disbelieve it. I believe what the evidence says, recognizing that anything in that realm can be stamped by politics and bias, is often beset with poorly-gathered or misunderstood data, and is then further leveraged in inappropriate ways by the power- and money-motivated.

Nevertheless, science does advance and we achieve greater understanding of the universe. However, what we do with elections and polling has little to do with science or even statistics (which is more truly a philosophy with numbers). It’s more akin to astrology with semi-causal feedback loops.

Love science? Believe science? No. I believe in evidence and the weight of wisdom over time.

Mailing It In

It’s not fairly fucking simple to set up your own email server, you fucking dipshit. That is outside of the skill set of 99.999% of people. As it should be!

I once was an expert on email servers (particularly Microsoft Exchange) and it’s not at all easy — and it’s only gotten more difficult as security is emphasized more now. I recently set up an email server for my own use and it took me two days and much googling. And I have 20 years of professional IT experience and 40 years of using computers.

Easy to set up an email server. Ha!

Kam

Yes, she’s a horrible cop and a terrible person in general. Biden is no better, which is why he picked her. They think the same way. Both atrocious, she’s just younger and can do more damage in the future.

Left Front

Don’t know who is going to win the election, but I do think Sanders would’ve won in a landslide, and I think Liz Warren would’ve won easily though not with as large a victory.

The Dems don’t really care about winning, though. Oh, they are fine if it happens. But what they truly care about is squelching the left.

Two Stroke

Yes, it’s real. Very, very inefficient two-stroke engine with no catalytic converter means it spews just massive amounts of emissions.

Not an Ascet

Why do liberals hate the idea of flying so much? Come on, the answer isn’t to make people’s lives and worlds worse, but to make flying and its environmental impact better.

Why have we lost the desire, the will, the impetus to improve, having determined (against any evidence) that we must diminish ourselves and the world? I can find no way to understand this except that asceticism, especially if it is enforced on others, just really appeals to people deeply.

I refuse to live in the conservative ideal serfdom nor in the liberal ideal serfdom.

Smock Up

Maajid Nawaz corners epidemiologist over cost of second lockdown.

I don’t agree with most of this guy’s politics, but the second wave of lockdowns is a huge mistake that will devastate economically more than the virus will.

The first lockdowns were correct (for short duration); the second ones are huge unforced errors that will have absolutely devastating consequences. They are being done not for reasons of the virus, but for other reasons.

Won’t be good.

Scams All the Way Down

We’re all scammers running a con on one another now. It’s become the system. Whether it’s liberals or conservatives, doesn’t matter. Just the scam differs. In a world built on such normalized deceit the person who tells the truth appears insane.

This all started with Perot in 1992, in many ways, and how the press treated him, but has now become the norm.

Policing the Inside

That’s not a bad first gloss, though they bleed into one another far too easily in reality.

The left is obsessed with words and believe they hold all power, so this is why they gravitate to thought thuggery. The right, being less academically-inclined and more practical, attempts to seize and hold real power.
