The Gobbler has mandated that everyone must wear full scuba gear at all times — even family pets. Even fish.

Some Hoax
A friend of mine’s grandfather died of the “hoax” coronavirus. And though he was old, he was otherwise healthy. He probably would’ve lived another 10+ years.
I’ve never seen a hoax be so deadly. Anti-maskers should be charged with negligent homicide.
Platommcic
today on nonstandard mcdonald's – is a mcdonald's a mcdonald's if it no longer is officially recognized by mcdonald's, but operates in a mcdonald's and serves mcdonald's food? a mcdonald's reassembled to become, functionally, a mcdonald's? a "mcship of theseus", if you will? https://t.co/xtMYme3Hvn

Is there a platonic McDonald’s? Is there an idea of a McDonald’s that stands outside of time, space, the universe? If so, can we destroy that place?

Vaxing Them
Should we vaccinate those at highest risk (what we do now) or those who are most likely to spread the disease? Scientists modeled both scenarios and argue the US may soon have to switch to the latter.

I ran the model in my brain and that is what I also concluded. See here for evidence. Our current approach is wrong.
Puritanned
The Joys of Frivolous Sex. The pandemic has brought out a nasty puritanism.
It does seem to have allowed it to thrive. The lib puritans are winning now, pretty roundly, and consolidating their baleful gains in all areas.
I’m hoping the end of the pandemic will reverse some of this but I have my doubts.
Moot Meet
I check my schedule constantly. I plan my day around it, including all the moving parts of being a dad of 5, BJJ, & a relationship with my partner.
So, when you throw a 10am meeting at me at 9:03am at me the anxiety cascade of it throwing my schedule off is

Had a boss, who was otherwise not bad, schedule an 8AM meeting at 11PM the night before.
Needless to say, almost no one (including me) showed up. That office did not have an early morning culture so most people didn’t even make it in until 9AM or later. He was puzzled about why no one showed up because he was a morning person and would’ve seen the meeting request at 4 or 5AM.
I and a few others explained to him that generally most people don’t even look at their email until they get into the office at 9AM unless there is an emergency.
After that, he was better.
No Recouperation
Exactly. The next attempt by someone competent will work. And there absolutely will be a next attempt.
Hope to be long gone by then, because good chance it sparks a civil war.
Die Motherfucker Die
Firefox is now down to 4.5% market share. Good. Here’s why they failed (in large part*), but of course they never listened because they had an ideology and companies, like people, would rather die than renounce that.
As always, fuck Mozilla and fuck the Firefox developers!
*Three main things that killed Firefox: Signed extensions, Aurora, and deprecation of XUL/XPCOM.
Pertinence None
A number of non-expert bloggers have recently written posts about the ethics of vaccine distribution.
So I figured: Why shouldn't I write one as well? 😃https://t.co/CxKPv9hHqk

You don’t need to be an expert to have and express moral intuitions or preferences. What a terrifying idea.
Jax Up
As usual, @VirusesImmunity has already answered the question!
You should still get vaccinated even if you've had COVID!https://t.co/snhmAgirqz
— Noah Smith 🐇 (@Noahpinion) December 23, 2020
Yes, you definitely should. Tests aren’t conclusive. The vaccine is (far more so). And the vaccine also produces a more robust immune response. You might not be immune (in the colloquial sense) from having had Covid-19, but the vaccine will give you far more certainty about that.

Sometimes, people are so dreadfully, blindingly stupid you can’t tell if they are joking or not. Alas, this guy was not.
Now if I could just figure out which it is for anti-maskers. Oh wait, never mind. I know.
