About the below, trusting women paratroopers with my life every jump, that shit ainโ€™t metaphorical at all.

Paratroopers inspect each otherโ€™s chutes, lines, and rigs. There were many women in my unit. Most often, itโ€™d be a woman named Dubs I served with jumping with me, and weโ€™d inspect each otherโ€™s equipment before an exercise. Our lives were literally in each otherโ€™s hands.

Not a metaphor. Thatโ€™s just the reality.
