So Predictable

Google speeds partial office reopening and puts limits on remote work.

If after Sept. 1, employees want to work remotely for more than 14 days per year, they will need to formally apply.

I told you that the MBAs absolutely hated everyone working from home, despite it mostly being more productive, and were going to put the kibosh on that as soon as fucking possible. They simply do not care about productivity. They care about asses in seats and being able to lord over their human chattel. That’s all, that’s it.

Easiest prediction ever, ever.

Hex

Pfizer says vaccine protection lasts at least 6 months after second shot.

I will stress this again, because ya’ll can’t read: “six months” DOES NOT MEAN “only six months.” It means that was the resolution of the study.

But that’s good news. I’d expect natural immunity from Covid (as in, catcing the virus) to last about two years in most people (say 90%), and about 2-3 years for the vaccines, particularly the mRNA-based shots.

But time will tell.

A Little Reading

It’s weird how a little reading saves so much confusion and wrongness. Like when the variants were first emerging and “experts” were saying that they were more transmissible but not more deadly.

And I knew from reading my virology textbooks that when a virus becomes more transmissible that it almost always also becomes more deadly. I thought, Hmm, that’s really weird, bet that’s not true. And it wasn’t. The variants are both more transmissible and more deadly.

There’s nothing amazing about me. Anyone could do it. But you have to actually do it. Not looking like a dumbass all the time is worth it, though.

Rocks and Model

For only the second time ever, I actually found a shot I liked that originated in Playboy. Why? The model, Alina Boyko, looks human still and is not in some highly unnatural pose:

Nice shot, great lighting. I want to see that lighting setup as that’s very difficult shooting conditions there.

Isn’t Free

What an absurd self-own, all the states that dropped mask mandates. But “muh freedoms.” I guess this diseased concept of liberty evolved from gun culture/NRA (etc.), but not sure why the concept of “freedom” as in harming others in easily-preventable ways emerged so strongly of late.

But that seems to be where we’ve arrived.
