Untalk

Shhh, don’t think or say these kind of things. The lockdown lifers and liberals (mostly overlapping) will really really want this.

Exterm

I really did think this was a joke at first. Then I hoped it was a joke. Then I realized it was not.

Now I’m just angry and sad at what the internet has become. Sure a lot of people will use this for “convenience.”

We have failed. Let’s destroy it all.

Gend Her

How the left talks about gender is extremely odd. These two treatments I’m about to mention occur at the very same time, often in the same set of statements. That is, the left treats gender like it is immutable, so puissant it cannot be altered, “born this way,” carved into titanium tablets and bestowed from on high. And at the very same time they declare it amenable to great alteration at any instant, with it being as mercurial as a spring wind — as if gender were something one could pick out of a wardrobe and then take off at the end of the day.

It cannot be both. So which is it? The left account of gender is incoherent and incomprehensible to anyone who is not in their bubble. I am not (and no, I am not in the conservative idiot bubble either). No, I am outside of all the spume and simmer of those who wish to have their thinking be dimmer.

My contemplations on gender are fairly unpolished as well, but they are not directly contradictory at least. But that’s for another post.

Salute

I first noticed this long before Twitter, on the old blog Pandagon. That was my initial encounter with those who got incandescently enraged at you if you did not agree with them heartily enough. It was not enough to just agree with them — no, you had to agree like you were a recently-inducted Wehrmacht officer attending the Nuremberg rally or you were very bad.

It was totally averse to my way of thinking and of being, and though I didn’t know it at the time this behavior was a harbinger of all that was to later occur in the general discourse. His entire thread is worth reading but I don’t think I will ever get used to the idea that if there is any disagreement, or even failing to agree spiritedly enough, that you are “committing violence” against someone. How the left fell down this trap I don’t know and I don’t care, but it’s a horrible place to be.

Where It Went

Most people started ignoring modern feminism after it became more about policing legal-age adults dating one another and attempting to get people to call 1-800 numbers if they saw a white dude married to an Asian woman to report “sex trafficking.”

Not many people care about the assortative mating preferences of liberal rich white women except liberal rich white women and when feminism became mostly about that, most others started ignoring it. And rightly so.

Far Side

I don’t like most people, but I really don’t like most smart people. Most of them are no better at thinking than those without as much mental horsepower but the smart people squander vast amounts of that available potential doing donuts in the parking lot on propaganda, tribal concerns, identity politics, and pure irrelevancies.

It just seems like more of a waste to me, and they are far more annoying, too.

Change Down

One of the strangest things about the pandemic is seeing the open borders types, who have long advocated the idea that anyone should be able to go anywhere at any time, switch from that to claiming it’s unethical to want to leave one’s country (or, sometimes, house), to go on holiday, to wish to do anything but hide inside pitifully.

These are the same people. I know the pandemic has been traumatizing…but damn, what a change-up.
