How Locked?

Lockdowns are very harmful, of course, but the question is if they are more harmful than the alternative? That is, a pandemic burning out of control and overwhelming hospital systems, and do lockdowns adequately control that while preserving any sort of society?

In that light, while it’s clear lockdowns do work, as their length and restrictiveness continues the utility calculation begins to look less favorable to that method.

I don’t presume to know where the dividing line is exactly, but places that had year-long lockdowns and such are going to see some real long-term mental health consequences from that, and for many those consequences are going to be very bad indeed.

Doom-mongering Pays

Agreed that we need to work on getting vaccines to everyone. It’s somewhat likely a variant could emerge that defeats most vaccines, and that’d be totally our fault if so.

What bothers me is that people who are consistently wrong never face any consequences, though. For instance, the much-ballyhooed US mega-surge of doom which I said wouldn’t happen and did not, and which more than half of liberals were screeching about incessantly — though I was right and they were wrong, they will receive more plaudits for being doom-mongers than I will be for being completely correct.

Makes no damn sense.

Bio Logic

The difference isn’t quite this large in reality, but it’s near this. This is why biological males should not ever be competing in women’s sports.

Prudery

Ebay Is Pulling a Tumblr by Banning Adult Content.

It’s been strange seeing society get ever more prudish with many people simultaneously claiming this very-obvious thing is not occurring. But it has been, since at least the mid-1980s.

I guess soon enough the feminists will be donning burqas while extolling how very “woman-centric” it is, and claiming feminism is really about the choice to withdraw from the world and avert the male gaze by dressing like a beekeeper, only going out escorted by a male relative.

That’s certainly what Gloria Steinem and Shulamith Firestone were fighting for, alright.
