Told you the Delta variant was going to be the next excuse to keep many around the world locked inside, fearful of the world. This is going to keep happening for years and have increasingly little to do with any real threat.

That was absurdly predictable.

After a certain date — say, August 1, 2021 — any further pandemic deaths should be tallied and those who still refuse to get the vaccination should be legally charged with fractional murder for those deaths.

What I mean is that if 50,000 people die after August 1, and there are 20 million Americans who refuse to get vaccinated, then each of those people is charged with 0.0025 of a murder with all the resultant penalties that are associated with that — if they still refuse to get vaccinated.

Say the average sentence for first degree murder is 40 years. That means you go to jail for a month. You get the idea.

I know it’d never happen, but a guy can dream, right?

These articles emerge from scientists who are justifiably concerned about their research being curtailed attempting to prevent that from occurring. That’s why you’ve been seeing all these articles and Twitter threads full of distortions and/or direct lies about how just super super safe the labs all are, there is no chance anything has escaped ever, they make every single little virus have a little door key card, etc., etc.

Understand why this rash of articles is occurring and it begins to make more sense. Most of them are full of easily-disproven misstatements and fabrications.

I agree, but what happened to the mantra of “No one NEEDS AC” that I used to hear mostly northern libs chanting during the cooler months? Wonder where that went exactly?

Only a total clown could believe that, but apparently a lot of people did.

I never go to any of those online social events my company does. I can’t stand them. Video sociality is just not for me. I hate it so, so much. It feels so inhuman and dry. It’s a simulation of something not even that great most of the time, anyway, and that virtuality somehow makes it ten times worse.

I’m sure that I’m seen as aloof and anti-social, but I’ve been seen that way all my life so I don’t give a rip. I’m also fucking awesome at my job so I face little consequences for it, unlike most.

I’m tired of posting about lockdown lifers and boringly prudish American liberals. So I figured I’d post about the next book I am going to read. It’s this one!

“Next” book that I read is really a bit misleading. I’m generally reading anywhere between 5-20 books at the same time. For a while I tried to limit it to less than seven or so, but that didn’t really work out. So now I don’t even try.

The ban on travel from Europe once made sense. Now it’s only causing hardship.

End prison countries and closed borders now. It’s just senseless and all it’s doing is hurting people. I believe these restrictions are actually designed to harm people and have absolutely nothing to do with the pandemic, though I can’t figure out the game here. Maybe it’s just to burnish politicians’ reputations? Not sure.

If you’re for this in any shape or form anywhere, you’re my enemy.

Every time I think about it I seriously do marvel and am also disgusted by how the same fucking liberals in February 2020 who were advocating open borders, no restrictions (even due to disease, look it up) are now pushing for eternally-closed borders, massive travel restrictions and harming millions of people with no relief or recourse. Same fucking people!

Over this long, unsettling period, my children have turned 10 years old and 6 years old — and my parents in France missed their birthdays. A new baby niece was born in Belgium, and I have yet to hold her. My grandpa turned 94, and I have not visited him in his new retirement home. But of course, I am one of the lucky ones. I can only imagine the tragedy of losing a loved one without being able to attend their funeral, the pain of suffering mental or physical ailments without any support network (I’ve been healthy), or the anguish of being long separated from a child or a partner (my French husband is stuck here with me).

That’s definitely how we should be treating people. I only hate death cult liberals slightly less than I hate death cult conservatives.

I see the contemporary Right and Left (intentional capitalization here) as inhuman death cults, with the main difference being on exactly where in their ideological mapping they emphasize that their form of death worship is the very best kind of death worship.

There might not be a way out of this trap, being as modernity and human cognitive mismatches with same tend to gravitate to this perhaps-fatal attractor.

I truly do understand why the Fat Acceptance (and related) propaganda is so popular and so powerful. Why it works. Humans will always tend to take the easy way, to tread the soft path. Indeed, it is just our natural tendency, and in fact the natural inclination of all life. And this “soft path” has been made very comfortable indeed by both the production of low-quality pseudo-food items and the surrounding and supporting disinformation and misinformation environment that has even infected our science about such topics, making it low-quality as well, and of low value.

The antonym of propaganda is truth, and the truth is that if we existed in a different and improved information and social environment that elevated human dignity and human achievement, being 400 pounds and on the way to an early grave would also not be seen as a personal defect, but rather something we could help someone with, to raise them up to be better than they are. We could improve both the lot of humanity collectively (I know, bad to talk about now as it’s “eugenics” or something), and we could assist individual people, all without shaming them or diminishing their humanity in the least.

It is possible, and not even that hard, but the main drawback of a program like this is it would not make anyone, and certainly not the right people, any money. But it’s certainly possible, and the brute reality is that it would cost less and benefit society (and nearly every individual) far more than what we are doing now, but that we are not even allowed to imagine that such a thing could occur. By “not even imagine”, I mean even most self-professed liberals do not even possess the cognitive tools to think about such things, bathed as they are in a propaganda environment that utterly squelches such ideas. Most are so far gone that if a society-wide program of human betterment is discussed, they cannot even comprehend what you are talking about.

It really is that bad. Propaganda works, and it works best when people do not even realize they’ve been infected and become true believers of absolute nonsense. Which is where we find ourselves now.
