Too Strict

Despite Pandemic Concerns, Documenta Will Stage 15th Edition Next Year.

Documenta, the once-every-five-years exhibition in Kassel, Germany, that ranks among the worldโ€™s most important art festivals, hinted that international travel restrictions might make it impossible to hold the exhibition as planned. But in a press conference in Kassel today, the Supervisory Board of Documenta announced that it would indeed go forward with its planned dates of June 18โ€“September 25, 2022.

If there are still international travel restrictions anywhere at all next year, we are fucking doing it wrong and just harming people for no reason at all. Which we are already doing for political theater and reasons of virtue signaling.

We must do everything possible now to resist prison countries and lockdown mania because we probably won’t get a second chance.

Divert

No one believes my husband is my husband. Is that because heโ€™s younger and prettier than me?

Why worry about it? I’ve consistently been with women considered (and considerably) more attractive than I am, and I’ve gotten similar questions many times. I just let it flow. Here’s a few:

“Are you related? Is that your sister?”

Suggested response: “Yes, and we’re trying for a baby.”

“Uhhh…she’s with you?”

Suggested answer: “I know! I’m just doing her a favor!”

“How’d you swing that?”

Suggested response: “They don’t call me Big Mike for my height.”

Some of those only work for a man, but you get the idea. It throws people off and it makes them feel guilty for being so judgmental and nosy.

Mini Miti

Should fully vaccinated people continue to wear masks? Experts weigh in.

Hell no, they should not. Another example of something that would only help in a very, very, very minor way, would hardly decrease the risk at all. Meanwhile, we do nothing at all in other areas that would actually massively help such as improved ventilation, contact tracing, case surveillance, etc.

It’s all theater now. The experts pretend to know what they are doing and we pretend to care so that we can all signal about how much we are so concerned. Meanwhile, we do nothing substantive.

Strong Game

Here’s the network connection details from one of my Windows VMs:

Notice no default gateway and no DNS servers. Yet I can still get to the internet with multiple browsers, and no I am not using IPv6. This is one of the fun things you can do when your networking game is strong. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Rename

One of the most valuable features of older, correctly-functioning versions of Firefox was the capability to right-click and rename tabs.

This was invaluable to me. Now I am forced to use older Firefox in secure VMs to be able to have access to this feature as I cannot easily do without it. Having this capability meant that if I opened a tab intended only for search, I could rename this tab to “Search: blah site” and I’d know always what I was using it for.

When you have hundreds of tabs open, this is really very useful and I am robbed of hours every week where I do not have this functionality to rename tabs.

All told, losing this and all the features to the new pseudo-secure Firefox means that I now need to spend 2-3x as long to do the same things I used to do.

Damasque

Not just babies. I have trouble understanding what people are saying in a noisy public environment at the best of times — and with them having a mask on, it’s hopeless. And so many social cues are not available that way.

Hardly anyone ever talks about the social issues that masks cause, but I think they are important. Why do so many people want to live in such a terrible way basically forever? I cannot understand.

Mask Mistake

Ventilation improvements are more effective than even universal masking, yet people are just fully and creepily obsessed with masks. However, there are almost no calls for a program of massive ventilation improvements, a program which would make far more sense and help everyone in society.

Because there will be another pandemic and we should be preparing for that. We should not merely be obsessing over mitigations that do in fact help, but only in the neoliberal sense of “helping” (which isn’t much and foists all responsibility onto the individual).

Retroact

Indeed. After the Great Depression, we took a huge step back culturally and from modernity and only began moving forward again in the late 1960s. Now, though, we’re rolling it all back again and mostly it’s the “liberals” doing so this time. They claim “protection from harm” but that’s just the very transparent excuse, the ascetic desire for destruction of pleasure and the denigration of anything beyond the pursuit of narrow neoliberal goals.

This is also closely related to their actions and reactions during the pandemic that is now destroying so many people.

Zero Brains

What’s odd about the people below is the constant goalpost shifting that hardly anyone has seemed to call them on.

First it was “flatten the curve.” Ok, I can get behind that one. Lock down for a month, assess, see where we are and make sure the hospitals aren’t overwhelmed. Reasonable in the face of an unknown threat and right in line with the precautionary principle.

Then it was hide inside until the case rate is below a certain number. Ok, seems like that could be a long time, can’t we think of some better ideas? But apparently not.

Then it was lock down until the vaccines are released. Seems iffy, as that timeline is not really clear (in summer 2020).

Then the vaccines arrived and it was lockdown until a certain vaccination rate is reached. A little more reasonable but not really fair to the vaccinated or to anyone who has been cooped up inside for more than a year in general. And especially considering in most countries, nothing else was ever really tried.

Then it became “we can’t end lockdown due to variants” and we must stay inside until some mysterious time in the future under the terrible “Zero Covid” pseudo-plan death cult lib wishful thinking.

Now it’s becoming that lockdown can’t end because there might be unknown threats in the future, some other pandemic, some other grave danger that we could avoid if we just stay sequestered from the world, go full-on Morlock and never emerge again into the light.

It will never end. But it’s up to us to end it, and if we don’t then we deserve what we get.

Unlax

Many people in the UK spent over a year in lockdown. Do you think that’s healthy, you fucking absurd wanker? Do you think that’s good for anyone?

All of these people know is lockdown. It’s all they can think of, because they deeply desire to have control over people; they want them to suffer, all under the guise of “caring” for them. Don’t trust these people at all. They’re the same ones who will be herding you into the camps “for your own good” as soon as they get the chance.

And the lying about the efficacy of vacines? That’s just a blatant fucking untruth and that will actually harm tons of people.

Brush Down

I was looking for an image of the painting “Breton Brother and Sister” by William Bouguereau because it’s one I really like. I found it:

The detail and expression on the sister’s face is wonderful. I also discovered a reproduction. However, it’s not a reproduction, it’s a murder:

Just no. Put the brush down and jump into a creek. One with no water. From at least a hundred feet up. “Museum quality.” Sure, if the museum is in hell.
