“Eliminate crime” is the same sort of fantasy world thinking as Zero Covid, just the “crime” thing is more from the right side of the aisle. It means nothing will get done but you’re striking the right poses, very serious ones.
For the Fat Acceptance goobs, I’ve had to work out really hard for nearly three years to get to a point where the BMI scale starts being a poor measure for me (coming from normal body fat). Someone with better genetics might be able to do it faster, but I’ve also been working out extremely hard — and very consistently, too.
Trust me, you aren’t “too muscular” for the BMI scale. It’s just lard and you are fat. That’s all.
I went from around 150 pounds to about 165 pounds at 5’8″. Still, that only puts me just barely off the “normal” part of the BMI scale. And unlike all y’all, that is packing on a lot of fucking muscle. I’ve put on 15 total pounds but around 20-25 pounds of muscle (muscle replaced lost adipose tissue).
Reality: you’re just fat unless you’ve done what I have done.

What’s really bizarre about the hatred of philosophy by physicists and STEM types today is that nearly all of the physicists who originated quantum mechanics were very much into philosophy.
Which, you know, is not a real surprise considering how the universe is. The turn against philosophy more has to do with forcing people to not question what they are told rather than its lack of usefulness. They must be convinced of its lack of utility so they do not accidentally do any independent thinking dangerous to neoliberalism and the status quo.

I just do not see how one is less harmful than the other. The virus is not now — or ever — going away. Having people cowering indoors for a decade (two?) is not a fucking solution.

Another odd liberal move, excused and justified under the “protection from harm” bullshittery, is a return to explicitly transactional relationships. Oh, they still have the veneer of love, and use the vocabulary and framework, but scratch even a fraction of an inch below the surface and it becomes just about socioeconomic status and policing “appropriate” relations within those bounds, and regarding class status.
In the (neo)liberal mind, everyone has a price, and if you can’t pay then the algorithm shouldn’t put you together. And the algorithm knows all and is the arbiter of all worth.
On a somewhat-similar theme, it’s so strange to me how many lib types go nuts when some real footage of a disaster is used in a film. I think I will never understand this.
Cinema is how we think about ourselves; it’s one way we reason as a society. It’s important that have all the tools available to us there. Sure, the footage can be used poorly or flippantly (and even this should be allowed IMO), but most of the time it’s there to achieve verisimilitude and to make the film have some actual resonance.
But most liberals want to exist in some sort of dream world, one where biology is not real, where disasters do not happen, where sex is virtual, where no one is ever sad and the pod is always warm.
Modern liberalism is not in any way self-coherent.
For instance, race. Race doesn’t exist and it determines everything. It’s both extremely powerful and irrelevant. It’s impossible to be transracial even though race doesn’t exist and is the most powerful fact in the universe, both at the same time.
The same with biology. Biology doesn’t exist, and men and women are exactly the same. Except women are fragile and are children until they are 40. And even though it’s impossible to be transracial, being transsexual is just a matter of declaring yourself a man or a woman. Because men and women are exactly the same (this also makes no sense, though is a bit subtler than the “race doesn’t exist” inequality.)
I’m just pointing out the most obvious inconsistencies; those that are 100% contradictions. There are many others that have no real thought behind them, like the “completely safe” nonsense and the utter prudishness of the left. And how most of them are now water carriers for the CIA/FBI. (How the hell did that happen?)
Caroline Jones is better with just her voice and guitar or a banjo than most people are with a 10-piece band. Could listen to her all day. She even played “Old Blue!” And fucking crushed it.
It turns out that Caroline Jones is also a fantastic guitarist. Not fair. When talent gets doled out, it definitely doesn’t get doled out evenly.
