Lean Out

I knew the obesity problem was bad, but didn’t realize it was quite this bad.

Itโ€™s hard for a modern person to appreciate just how thin we all were for most of human history. A century ago, the average man in the US weighed around 155 lbs. Today, he weighs about 195 lbs. About 1% of the population was obese back then. Now itโ€™s about 36%.

That’s not “genetics,” not in the sense that most people who say that mean it in. The story examines some possible causes.

It’s weird to me people say they feel better when they are fat. I’ve been fat and I felt like goddamn garbage. I’m not sure what they mean by “better,” exactly. Not having to endure some hunger pangs, what? All I felt was sluggish, slow, and crappy. Didn’t realize quite how bad until I got thin again and started eating better.

This article also mentions that many things groups like the Fat Acceptance people and related think they “know” aren’t really true, such as the below.

Common wisdom today tells us that we get heavier as we get older. But historically, this wasnโ€™t true. In the past, most people got slightly leaner as they got older.

Anecdotally, all the really old people in my family when was a kid were really fucking lean. This was in the early 1980s, and many of them were in their early 80s or 90s, so they would been born around 1890-1905 or so.

The Trend Does Tend

A couple of years ago when I used to still allow comments on this blog, every time I mentioned the sharp increase in prudishness dipshit mooks popped up to tell me it wasn’t occurring, that I was just imagining it, blah blah blah.

Of course, I was right and they were very, very wrong. The evidence now is incontrovertible but even back then it was pretty obvious since it’d been trending that way quite obviously since the mid-1990s.

I’m not surprised they were wrong. Most people are most of the time. What does surprise me, though, is that it’s possible to be wrong about something so obvious for so long.

LinkedOut

Uh…what? America does want to go full Taliban. To be fair, it has for a while. But now even the libs are getting fully on board with it.

Fortress Not So Fort-y

Exactly what I suspected was going to happen in Australia and wrote was likely to happen has happened.

With the highly infectious variant now seeping around the country, more than half of Australia’s 25 million people are in lockdown, and a slow vaccination program has left many demanding to know what went wrong.

That’s about what I expected to see. I won’t gloat, even though Australia did it to themselves and it was completely predictable.

Uhh Whaaaa

The left has now often gone down the path of fantastical thinking. Not as often as the right, not by far, but it’s getting worse — and yes I include the “Zero Covid” fantasy in that bucket, too.

Your Husbun

Yep. And I hate any lib who had anything to do with it. Their “protection from harm” has gotten thousands killed already.

But this is certainly true and made me laugh:

(If only it were just Evangelicals. It’s a lot of “liberals” too.)

NoFans

I don’t use OnlyFans and have never spent a single cent on there, but OnlyFans banning sexual content is both hilarious and sad.

Don’t believe any of the lies you’ll see about this, though. It’s not occurring to protect anyone — that “protection from harm” BS is the usual re-purposed lie. Why it’s destroying itself is because the powers that be do not control it and have now found that they want to and need to.

Entrenched media, etc., absolutely hate any platform that gives the workers more control than they have and that’s what OnlyFans did. It has nothing to do with sex just as protecting children has nothing to do with Apple’s new surveillance plans. What it is really about is making sure the whip hand that has always held the lash continues to hold it with no challenge and no resistance.

This will of course enormously harm sex workers and benefit entrenched power (as mentioned, the whole reason it’s occurring).

No End

What’s the end game, Ian? We just stay at home forever? That’s what pisses me off about the lockdown lifers: they never have any sort of desired end state. Covid is never going away. Not ever. So “just stay at home forever” is not a strategy at all — it’s just pointless holier-than-thou virtue signalling, usually done by people who already work (or faff about on the internet) from home, like Ian.

Cool story, bro.
