Two Ways
The only Covid precaution I’m really taking anymore is buying a crop duster and spraying Covid on the unvaxxed areas. Figure weed them out quickly or at least give them some immunity.
I call it Vaccination: The Hard Way.
Show Down
The military uniforms in the Y: The Last Man TV show are so fucked. Here’s an example.
That’s an incorrect 82nd Airborne Division unit patch on her left shoulder, i.e., not the whole unit patch. It actually looks like this:
The “Airborne” text is always part of the patch, though it is sewn separately. It is not the correct patch without that! That’s how whoever assembled the uniforms probably got it confused but it’s a shoddy mistake that no one in the army would ever make.
And the worst part of that jacked-up uniform is that no fucking paratrooper in the history of ever would wear a damn Air Assault badge instead of their paratrooper wings! It would just never, ever happen. They might wear their Air Assault wings and the paratrooper wings, but not wearing them at all? Just. Would. Not. Happen. I tried to get into Air Assault school but never made it. If I had, I would’ve worn that badge proudly but my jump wings would’ve stayed right there where they were.
Lord, as a paratrooper, that uniform breaks my heart.
Here’s what wearing the two badges together looks like (the Air Assault badge always goes on top due to Army uniform regulations, too complex to explain here):
Grow Down
โGreen growthโ doesnโt exist โ less of everything is the only way to avert catastrophe.
I used to believe this nonsense too. But it’s a trap. And wrong.
No Ro
The “robots are just as good as humans” for space exploration is utter horseshit and I think even the people who say it know that’s the case.
Not Excatly
When I was a really young kid, I thought a “cat burglar” stole cats.
Sounded like a good idea to me.
Bring Hell
Truly, fuck the anti-vaxxers. Should all be under house arrest or in prison.
Any real society would make their lives hell.
Munch Much
When I see how much the average American eats, I am fucking shocked. That’s why I am skeptical of the hypothesis that obesity is chemical-caused. Many people eat 2-3x as much as I do in a day.
People I used to work with ate as much just for breakfast as I ate all day, for instance.
Shorted
Wild that most definitions of impossible are based on only <70 years of concerted effort.
When humans start living Ionger shit is gonna get BONKERS

Yeah, the pedestrian Nils Gilman definition of “impossible.” And to be fair, most people’s definition of impossible.
Really Flagging
Redesigning America’s Flag: Six New Takes on Old Glory.
These are all terrible. That said, I don’t have any better ideas.
Suscitet Deos
Occasional reminder that geoengineering is mandatory if you want to maintain billions of people on earth for the long term.

Yes it is. We must become the gods until now we’ve only pretended to be.
Baggage
I don’t like most people that I used to like, post-Covid.
If I’m still talking to you, the above doesn’t include you. If I’m not, well, yeah….
Prudent
What if the โsex trafficking maniaโ thatโs sort of taken suburban social media by storm is a form of secular Evangelical eschatology, analogous to wokeismโs Congregationalist revivalism?
— nft animal avatar duplicator (@tekashi996) September 27, 2021
I think it’s another facet of prudishness. They’ve expanded the definition of “sex trafficking” to include nearly anything. One woman was claiming in a Twitter thread the other day that she was “nearly sex trafficked” when some guy in a parking lot spoke to her briefly and courteously.
For suburban white libs/feminists, an obsession with fake sex trafficking is a way of expressing their prudishness and adding some fake drama to their lives. Unfortunately, it harms real women but they don’t care about that at all.
Diss the Cog
In the UK, 90% of everyone over 16 has had at least one dose of a COVID vaccine and they had a Delta wave catching many of the unvaccinated. Trying to squint to understand why โitโs a mysteryโ for hospitalizations to go down even without huge restrictions. https://t.co/yX2n3S4B4v

Because many liberals — probably the majority — see the virus not as a natural phenomenon, but rather as a moral judgment. You only resist the virus by taking away things from people and enforced asceticism. This shows your moral rectitude and thus defends against Covid.
Of course since libs lack religion, they don’t quite put it in these terms but this is what it amounts to. It has been really funny watching the libs attempt to hold two things in their head at once, though: that the vaccines don’t work and that everyone should get vaccinated because they are effective.
This cognitive dissonance results in deeply bizarre articles like the one Zeynep is discussing, where it’s treated as some grand mystery that a very effective vaccine is working quite well, like just no one could possibly figure out why the expected results are occurring. I’ve seen more than a dozen of these types of articles now.
