In Virginia, CRT was a distraction. Mattered little. What won the election for the Republicans was school closures and masking mania. CRT was a press-friendly sideshow.

Red Death
The whole “masks don’t change anything, and have no harmful effects” hooey and humbug really has been a huge failure. Because even the people who spout it know it’s a lie! And they know that you know that they know it’s deceptive, but they still do it anyway.
But it was to con others, who also were not fooled. Writing it, I can hardly believe it happened (and is still happening). But it did.
No Leash Please
Thank fucking Zeus the lockdown lifers and quarantine forever people lost. I mean, that was most likely, narrowly, but I was worried. Could’ve gone the other way.

And people are right to be angry with Biden. He dragged his feet on vaccine mandates and still hasn't instituted them to travel. So now people are legitimately worried we'll be masking indefinitely to protect people who refuse to protect themselves. https://t.co/twMPLHUT4a

Where did this person come from? She’s like she was many years ago again, now. Totally right.

Be very, very skeptical of this, for a whole host of reasons.

Dems: Don’t have fun. Fun is bad. Fun means you hate the planet.
Repubs: Have fun, but suffer the consequences, evildoer!
Lord, we’re doomed.
Tungsten Boiling Point
Turns out scolding and mocking people for pandemic fatigue wasnโt the slam dunk political strategy so many thought! On the contrary, the pandemic fatigue just laid the groundwork for an overall sense Democrats are useless, so why bother to vote.

Damn, Amanda bringing the heat. Cry big, liberals! But she’s fucking right. Dems lose huge in 2022, lose in 2024. All their fault.
Not Just About the Pandemic
I guess as someone who is a paratrooper and who has had guns pulled on him more than once doesn’t have much room to talk about risk tolerance…but shit, some of y’all’s risk tolerance is like, “OH NO a gnat might land on me, and that’s WAY TOO DANGEROUS. That gnat could be carrying mega Space Ebola and then we’d all DIEEEEEEE!”
What happened to you people? What made you like this?

She’s got great stage presence. And that C. Bechstein piano sounds gorgeous. Some great playing there, too.

I finally watched the first episode of the show Aquarius, solely because Emma Dumont is in it. It’s not that good. Emma, of course, is excellent, but she’s given very little to work with. The material is weak and scattered and it doesn’t feel foreign at all. It reads like a bunch of folks from our time transported to 1967 and doing very 2015 stuff in 1967.
Tarantino did a far better job with this era is his Once Upon a Time In Hollywood. That film felt like traveling to a strange land, with people whose motivations and behaviors didn’t line up with ours.
I don’t understand what the writers or director were thinking with this show. Why the fuck make it a cop show? It’s completely boring this way. You have Emma Dumont in your cast and you let David Duchovny stumble around making funny expressions half the time? What a waste.
Anyway, enjoy a cap from a scene where Emma D. actually had a chance to act:
That show needed way less of what it had and much more of everything to do with the story of Emma’s character (also in the show named “Emma”). If someone gave me the money, the time, and her in my cast, I could’ve made such a great show about this era. Huge missed opportunity.
