It’s interesting the split of the Covid panickers versus the Covid realists. Not much has changed, really, but Omicron has made the Covid panic pack really ramp it up.

Covid realists: the vaccines work. It’s impossible to keep shutting society and borders down, mostly for the benefit of the deliberately unvaxxed. The risk to children is minimal and we should try to operate our civilzation as normally as possible. The virus isn’t going anywhere.

Covid panickers: omicron is super-ebola-measles and will kill all the kids, resurrect them all, and kill them again! We should lock down so hard that fossilization starts while we’re still alive. Anyone who doesn’t agree has killed 900 trillion grammas and children.

This also reminds me of how progressive urbanist Twitter includes some of the most virulently pro-lockdown figures. Also progressive: Huh, I wonder why there’s no social cohesion, all the businesses are closed, everyone has mental health problems and no one wants universal anything anymore. It’s a mystery. “It wasn’t me; it was the pandemic!”

Are there anything our liberals today aren’t afraid of? They’re terrified of being offended, of sex, of going outside, of even the damn air. I mean, at least they’ll get vaccinated. There’s that. It’s something.
