Risking More

It makes no goddamn sense. But people are terrified of nuclear in a way that they aren’t of the things that actually harm and kill them.

The Look

Alas, this won’t drive the prudes away, but this is sexier than 99.99% of nude photos:

That’s what puzzles me about the “athletes showing any skin is sexualization and exploitation” people. I know I don’t think like normals, but come on. Just admit you’re boring prudes who don’t really care about women at all, andย then go away. Forever. (Not sure of model’s name.)

Hiding All Day (and Night Too)

Is the American dream never having to go outside?

It seems so. Y’all’s dreams make dirt cry.

I think the pandemic has reinforced the permanent — or at least long-term — retreat from public life. The libs are going to cloak this in asceticism and “saving the planet” and such, but it’s of course really about fear. Conservatives are going to continue the retreat, too, and for them it’ll be overtly about “prepping” and “individual freedom” but it’ll merely be fear, too.

Never thought I’d live to see such times.

Stereno

Remember when dudes used to drive around in vans with stereo equipment and try to sell it to you at gas stations and stoplights and such?

Was that just a Florida thing? I’m sure all that stuff was either stolen or absolute trash or both. But you know, that was kinda odd. Happened to me at least twice, and to friends of mine too.

Networking Esoterica

In networking, the term “default gateway” is really misleading. How Cisco often refers to it, as the “gateway of last resort,” is far more accurate. That’s because this route is not really the “default.” If there is a directly connected network or a more specific route, the network traffic will follow that path.

Thus, the “default gateway” is only “default” in the sense that’s where traffic goes if there is nowhere else obvious for it to route.

I’ve blown many less experienced IT folk’s minds by having a Windows machine with no default gateway that could still access everything it needed to just fine. With specific routes, a default gateway is not required. You can even run OSPF on Windows with RRAS, if you really want to. (That said, Windows networking is weird and does many non-standard things, so expect that when you start monkeying with it.)

If I Get

What Jessica is claiming makes no sense. 90% of hospitalizations are of the unvaxxed. Why should I curtail my behavior when I am not the problem, nor am I likely to be the problem? Especially when it won’t even help a damn thing?

This doesn’t make any sense. But this isn’t about that. This is about how much these folks love to take away things from people. If I get Omicron, I will just have a mild cold for a few days. Who gives a crap?
