I suspect that the media messaging on this makes it worse. If told that approaching women is wrong – men who don’t want to offend women and are socially conscious won’t. Narcissists or someone who doesn’t care will keep doing it and have less competition.

This is exactly the case. Narcissists and sociopaths won’t and don’t give a shit about social mores and pressures at all, so women/feminists by enforcing the “any approaching a woman in public ever is harassment” norm mainly ensure that the only people who ever engage with them in public are abusers and harassers.

It’s not a self-created problem, exactly — there are many creepy men — but feminists have made the problem so much worse than it otherwise would be. Not only that, but they are doing the work of capitalism by forcing everyone into algorithmically-driven apps that commoditize us and also tend to make women more likely to want to compete for those coveted top 10% or so of men mercilessly.
