Well, here’s the proof that this reasoning was BS: they didn’t compete. The shot themselves in the foot repeatedly, and in the face, and did the exact things people like me told them was going to cause the very problems they are experiencing. The argument that what they did to cripple the browser was necessary is now prima facie incorrect because it only hurt them and helped them not even a little.

This is mostly good advice. If normies start asking about anything in the financial realm, it’s probably done and over except for the crying.
I followed this advice myself in 2001 when I sold nearly every stock I owned in various internet companies a few months before the major crash because my barber (and others) advised me that I should “get into those internet stocks because they can only go up.” (At that time, I didn’t tell anyone I was making mad money in the market.)
Kept all my cash while many, many others lost all theirs.
