Yeah, that has been fucking weird. I’ve seen numerous people just brutally attacking her, mostly on the left, and it just makes no sense. People I’d previously respected have been hacking at her like they’re Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th, saying basically she has no right to have opinions because she’s too young, too not them, etc.

It has made me so glad I never went anywhere near academia. It’s a declining field and it’s therefore very bloodthirsty and mercenary. Poor woman.

Scientists are very bad about this and also tend to have a refusal to generalize because the variation occurs along some spectrum, therefore “everything is really the same.” Well, no, it’s not. That’s just asinine. But I’ve heard many scientists with apparent normal brain functioning claim this.

I think — apart from competition elimination — one of the big reasons that PMC people are convinced the 26-year-old women are like little children and such is that many of the women (and men) in their orbit in fact are this way. Many have never held a job, never had a threatening or very negative experience in their life, and have been helicopter-parented from birth.

This creates very different people than a woman who started working at McDonald’s when she was 15, struggled to put herself through college, had a boyfriend or dad who beat her up, and was left to fend for herself at home from the age of 10-12, often watching younger siblings.

So I think it’s fair to say that the 26-year-old PMC-parented woman is in fact kind of like a child. Her effective age is around 12. But the non-PMC-parented woman, her effective age is around 35-40. Quite a difference.
