Anathem is Neal Stephenson’s best book, and the only one with a non-bungled ending, but if you don’t deeply love philosophy you probably won’t like that work.

I think that PMC libs (which are the majority these days, and the ones with any influence) see sex as always an exercise of power because that is how they use it and mainly why they have sex. It’s never about pleasure or blowing off steam for them, or if it is, that is at most a tertiary concern. No — the PMCs have sex primarily to assert or solidify power and so they simply can’t understand why anyone else would do it for any other reason.

Well, it’s not impossible, but it is fucking stupid. Who would fly them? Piloting an A-10 is in no way like flying a MiG. We’d also send the Ukrainians pilots? Congratulations, then you’re in a direct shooting war with Russia.

That’s what I’ve already noted. The worse the Russian army does (and they are doing very badly indeed), the more it will resort to indiscrimate shelling and bombing.
Any Ukrainians should get out while they can. The only reason to stay is if you want to kill some Russians.
