Exactly. I am not on Twitter, but if I were I’d hope to make it onto that “hate speech” list as it would demonstrate that I am at least engaging my own brain occasionally.

I knew the trans movement was going to experience a severe backlash when they started screaming about biological sex not being real. I don’t want anyone to be hurt or killed but when they did that, they really fucked themselves over.

No movement is immune to shooting itself in the foot; in fact, many do it frequently (Dems).

I got lectured in Jan/Feb of 2020 for being alarmed about the (obviously incoming) pandemic, got lectured in 2012 for worrying about tech and the public sphere, etc.

One of the reasons I knew the pandemic was going to be a big thing by February 2020 — other than not being a dumbass — was that I already read Zeynep. Finding people that can keep you from being a dumbass is key in life.

Discarding people who go down bad paths such as Ian Welsh, who were once ok but will turn you into a clown, is also very important.
