“Smart” is mostly a performance these days. Doesn’t mean anything as to being intelligent, correct, or thoughtful. It just means sending the right signals. It was very disappointing to realize this as I got older; has only gotten worse in the US, too.

I’ve had this thought before, too. Wonders and horrors abound, but we cannot see them because we’ve always seen them.

How does one become make themselves a better looking person.

Work out a lot. Get fit and wear clothes that fit. Get a flattering haircut. Walk and act with confidence.

I look so different than I did three years ago that an acquaintance I worked with back in 2014 and hadn’t seen in a long time asked (jokingly, but also I think not so jokingly) if I’d gotten plastic surgery. I have not. Just hit the weights hard for years.

It is very, very, very hard. I don’t think the whining libs know just how difficult. The US makes it look easy and effortless because we have so much unfortunate practice. We can get 100,000+ troops across entire oceans with all their equipment in weeks if needed. Most nations would struggle with getting 10,000 troops across their own border in that amount of time.

This is an incredibly difficult thing that we do just as a matter of course.

Good observation. Primarily, the media is as terrible as it is because it is corporate controlled and mostly staffed by trust fund Ivy Leaguers. They report what their masters tell them to report (and not report), and have no idea what’s happening anywhere and no understanding of it if they did. This is all by design. Some lefties have fallen completely for Russian propaganda as well, though. Ian Welsh and Noam Chomsky are good examples of that occurring.

I will, however, both sides this. Just maybe 2 months ago I was in lefty groups reading about how the supposed supply chain problems were a media plot to make Biden look bad, & there was even a prominent economist making this argument on the basis that shelves near him were full.
