Does anyone else read the scientific name of mice (mus musculus) and picture a really muscular mouse? pic.twitter.com/zOASIOYnff

“Mouse,” the scientific name for mice as a species, and “muscle” share the same etymology. Long story short, some ancient people thought muscles looked like mice crawling around under the skin…and there ya go. “Musculus” literally means “little mouse” in Latin.
FYI it can be true that weapons manufacturers and other generally ghoulish types can wish for the continuation of the war in Ukraine and that the war in Ukraine should be continued until Russia is defeated.
We’re adults; more than two things can be true at once.
Bought a gaming laptop, and everything runs so fast that I suddenly felt like it was 2003 again.
Then I realized that "everything works better like it did in 2003) is a sobering thought regarding the rate of technological progress.

Tech has regressed in most ways to where it was in 1989 or so. It’s that bad now.
A small prospective #LongCovid study cohort assessing persistent virus, autoimmunity, or immune activation failed to show any of these features were present or differed from controlshttps://t.co/pKFX1doOhP @AnnalsofIM pic.twitter.com/93vS0QZuWb

And it was superior to all that we have now: boring beige bullshit.
Libs:
We shouldn’t not do things for economic reasons.
We shouldn’t go to Mars for economic reasons.
Well, which is it?
If you woke up tomorrow and were inexplicably and fully the opposite sex but were mentally your old self, would you:
A: Learn to live in & accept your new body, as odd as you might find it.
B: Begin transitioning to appear as your original sex.
C: Don't know.
D: Show results.

Live as a woman. Sex and/or gender mean little to me. That would just be easier.
What is going on when the same person says:
Disease 1 – It's misguided to tell people to stop living their lives; we have to meet ppl where they are; tradeoffs; harm reduction, education!
Disease 2 – Anyone who doesn't support Shanghai lockdowns is murderer!!!
I don't get it

Covid became identity-entangled; monkeypox (which will amount to nothing) has not. That’s it. That’s all.
Many people look at Olympic athletes and think, if I train that sport I will have that body.
The other way around. If you have that body already, you will probably be good at the sport you see similar bodies in.

Generally true, though it makes many people cry big. Genetics really matter, and the more elite you are the more genetics matter because then the more everything matters.

Ruble recovery is meaningless. Ian Welsh is an idiot.
Do people genuinely enjoy sex scenes in shows/movies?
When it’s well done, yes, very much. It reveals something about the characters and who they are. Some good examples in mainstream films are Maria Bello’s and Viggo Mortensen’s sex scene in A History of Violence and the Margot Robbie and Leonardo DiCaprio sex scene in Wolf of Wall Street. There are tons of others!
And if you really want to watch a non-porn movie that has a whole lot of (unsimulated) sex that is integral to the film, watch the 1976 movie In the Realm of the Senses. I recommend the movie, but probably not if you’re American — then avoid. But I really like that film. It’s in my top 100.
So many prudes in that comment thread! Lordamercy.
Freestyle Slalom World Champion Vasilisa Maslova.
So, does she have eyes in the back of her head or something? Things I could never do.
If there were a song like the Red Hot Chili Pepper’s “Blood Sugar Sex Magik” released today that actually got popular, the libs would go fucking NUTS.
One of my favorite songs from the 1990s, by the way.
