I’m a Virologist, and I’m Setting the Record Straight on Variants and Reinfections.

Are we seeing the emergence of entirely new coronavirus variants that are impervious to immunity from vaccines and previous infections? If we keep getting reinfected, is it inevitable that most of us will end up developing long Covid?

In short, the answer is no.

Good pushback by someone who actually knows what they are talking about against the whole lib, “Everyone will get Covid 900 times and 2,900% of the population will get Long Covid, it’s inevitable” jackassery.

MYTH: We don't have a solution to nuclear's "waste problem"

REALITY: Nuclear waste isn't a problem. In fact, it’s the best solution we have to meeting our energy needs while protecting the natural environment!

She’s right; nuclear waste isn’t a big issue, really, and fairly easy to deal with compared to other forms of energy pollution we create. Extracting uranium is a different story, but nuclear fuel waste is not a problem.

This week, I was asked to explain to a judge & some lawyers how it's possible for the law & morality to come apart. Last week, I read half-baked thoughts about AI "sentience" from Google's finest.

I frequently amuse myself by going on Hacker News to watch those mooks talk about how philosophy is worthless and useless, and observing how they then spend whole 500+ comment threads retreading poorly very old philosophical ideas without understanding them at all or having any clue what they are talking about.

It’s good for some laughs, at least.

Yep. Al Franken was railroaded out of Congress because he was too progressive. That’s it, that’s all.

Why I prefer eating grasshoppers to beef.
