Oh, trust me, I do.

bruh human beings harvest each other's creativity. u think human painters aren't basically just building on top of what other people have done? cant believe humans have the *audacity* to go charge for work they made built on the shoulders of a human civilization's worth of art https://t.co/V5L5X8na7k

I think Aella is in the right here. Everyone having original ideas all the time is just bullshit, and I think this stance that one should be doing that is an artifact of academia and the tenure system. Academics must not “plagiarize,” which means cleverly hiding the fact that your ideas are not your own while pretending they are novel to you, all in order to advance and, eventually, achieve tenure.
That belief system infected the rest of society for obvious reasons (copyright cartels also had something to do with it, too).
Wow. I almost certainly have a tendency to over-attribute negative events as the consequences of lockdowns, but I genuinely didn't think that this would be one. https://t.co/2NqqJEOrgb pic.twitter.com/IkvHPWnYLB

LOL. Lockdowns were the likely cause of the hepatitis cases in kids. Will never get over how big a failure they were as an idea and how many eagerly embraced them, crowing all the time about how no one needs social contact, etc.
Human society is full of situations that are broadly analogous to birds flying directly into windows or moths into lamps but itโs harder to tell because of the greater complexity.

Thanks for putting in just a few words something I’d been thinking about for ages but hadn’t been able to condense into less than a book. The best I’d done was “bad idea trap,” but that’s only a bit related because what Misha is talking about and a “bad idea trap” aren’t really the same thing.
There are easily-avoidable calamities that we just don’t avoid. Hard to explain.
