Grand Tetons

Exo

My grandmother was a 1950s housewife. To her, pizza was an exotic food that she would actually eat. Mexican or Chinese food was far too strange and exotic to even consider partaking of.

Less Talk

Most people do not commonly understand a goddamn fucking thing. Most people know so close to nothing as not being worth talking with.

Think that makes me arrogant? FUCKING GOOD. CRY HARDER.

Subsidies

Wrong. Housing is extremely heavily subsidized in harmful ways by the government indirectly: the Fed buying up bundles of mortgages, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac backstopping loans that would otherwise be unprofitable to make, and a long history of too-low interest rates. Those are all subsidies that greatly pushed up housing costs.

Out of Space

I remember when applications had color and actual functionality. They looked nice and could do what you wanted them to do. Now we’re locked into brutalist authoritarianism in everything for “security” (read: scamming the rubes). We’re not even allowed to have color anymore.

Ten Ideas

I think Aella is in the right here. Everyone having original ideas all the time is just bullshit, and I think this stance that one should be doing that is an artifact of academia and the tenure system. Academics must not “plagiarize,” which means cleverly hiding the fact that your ideas are not your own while pretending they are novel to you, all in order to advance and, eventually, achieve tenure.

That belief system infected the rest of society for obvious reasons (copyright cartels also had something to do with it, too).

Down Up

LOL. Lockdowns were the likely cause of the hepatitis cases in kids. Will never get over how big a failure they were as an idea and how many eagerly embraced them, crowing all the time about how no one needs social contact, etc.

Compression

Thanks for putting in just a few words something I’d been thinking about for ages but hadn’t been able to condense into less than a book. The best I’d done was “bad idea trap,” but that’s only a bit related because what Misha is talking about and a “bad idea trap” aren’t really the same thing.

There are easily-avoidable calamities that we just don’t avoid. Hard to explain.

NFR

So they operate by North Florida rules. Should’ve figured.

Marshwallow

The liberals are failing politically because they made wallowing in loserdom their unofficial religion while the conservatives are dominating because they built political and judicial power and are now wielding it.

Not shocking, really.

Sump

I think I probably underestimate how hard it is for other people to control their eating. I’m just extremely, off-the-charts stubborn, so there’s nothing easier in the world to me than not doing something. I can not do something all week. Saying “no” to things comes so very naturally to me.

Guess it’s not like that for other folks. I’ve never been in their skin, so it’s hard to say. But I get that sense.

Interjection

One thing that’s weird about being a man is that you get rejected constantly, so you expect it. But perhaps the strangest thing about being a man is that most men get rejected fairly regularly by women they have expressed absolutely no romantic interest in of any kind and aren’t even attracted to.

What is that, preemptive rejection? I don’t think most women know how often that occurs, even though they are the ones perpetrating it. Is telling men “no” who are not interested in you at all just some sort of fun game? I don’t get it.
