Was Real

Yep. Y2K was a “big nothing” in most people’s perception because hundreds of thousands of people spent billions of person hours fixing shit in advance. It’s the preparedness paradox in action. If you correct a major problem before the consequences strike, everyone believes there was no problem in the first place. It’s a major and seemingly irremediable flaw in human cognition.

I kind of wish we’d fixed nothing so the whole economy would’ve ground to a halt so these stupid wankers would now be shut the fuck up.

As Good

Insects could give meaty taste to food โ€“ and help environment โ€“ scientists find.

Here’s more of the bug-eatin’ propaganda. I’ve come to realize it’s not actually about consuming bugs. Hardly anyone will willingly do that. What this is really about is taking away meat from the poors so that the rich can still have it, while “offering” something to them that’s “just as good*.”

And then when they rightly reject eating worms and bugs, the rich can feel better as the poor starve.

*Kind of like Zoom was “just as good” during the pandemic according to the Covidians.

Fat Unacceptance

I realized our country was doomed to failure when we began to valorize being a 400-pound tub of lard glued to the couch, whinging about how you’re being oppressed because the Cheetos ran out.

I’m not just exaggerating. That’s when it hit home.

3 of 10

I’ve seen that fairly daft bit from She-Hulk go around about women’s anger. Yeah, in a lot of ways it sucks being a woman. Granted. Most of my friends are women so I do truly understand.

But most women* have no idea about men’s anger. None. No one outside of North Florida and the Army has actually seen me truly angry. At most, anyone has seen maybe a 3 out of 10. At a 9 out of 10, I start trying to kill people. That’s men’s anger that we have to hold constantly in check as we get rejected, demeaned and ignored by the universe (especially when young).

Women think they know a lot about men. But mostly, they don’t. They just think they know, but their entire base of assumptions is wildly wrong.

*I’d except domestic violence victims here. Mostly.
