The same for me. I used to fucking love tech. You have no idea. The first time I saw an Amiga in Gainesville, Florida, in 1986 was like a religious experience. I could never afford one but when I saw that bouncing beachball on the screen the future felt real.
It’s definitely not nostalgia, to answer a tweet further down in Shannon’s thread; things have truly gotten worse, and of late much, much worse. I dread new product announcements and any mandatory upgrade. You know it’ll make the product more ad-filled, surveillance-infested, and less functional — meanwhile, as with Mozilla, it’ll be combined with complete lies about how much more powerful the product is.
There is nothing in tech that’s the least bit interesting to me now. I miss the days when it improved my life with every new release rather than making it vastly worse.

I always disliked the scene where Weaver is in panties in Alien. It sexualizes her in a way that the movie hadn’t before, though I think it was done unintentionally.
I agree with Weaver, though. It would’ve been far less sexualized in the context of that scene if she’d just been fully nude instead. Most importantly, nudity in that scene would’ve made a better film.

You won’t need to fire me as I’ll simply quit. I’m always in the top 10%-1% of employees too, so mostly you’ll lose your best people as they have tons of other options (I get recruitment offers constantly in bad and good markets, and so do the rest of your best folks).

Being hungry is not disordered eating. It’s just not. Jesus Fucking Christ on a dinosaur, why do I even have to say this? Shows just how very far food company propaganda has advanced into the public consciousness.
Reminds me of a story I heard a while ago: There was a woman who was eating less, dieting, whatever you want to call it (since “dieting” is supposed to be a bad word these days). And she called her friend and said, “My stomach is doing something weird. It’s making noises and kind of hurting a little.” Her friend had to explain to her that what she was experiencing was what being hungry felt like.
The woman had NEVER FELT HUNGER IN HER ENTIRE LIFE. Never. No wonder she’d managed to crest the goal of all Fat Acceptance food-propaganda-victim-Americans and hit the 400 pound Kraft Mac ‘n Cheese goals.
Isn’t that amazing? To never have felt hunger. Not even the least bit. I was aghast then as I am now.
Controlling your goddamn self is not disordered eating. Fuck that and fuck anyone who believes that. FUCK.
Straw
I just recently found out about this fork of Clementine, which was previously the only good local music player for the Mac. This one is better as it’s actually being actively maintained. It works great. Appears to have Windows and Linux versions too, but I haven’t yet tried those.
I donated $20 to the dev as this software is perfect for what I need. Fuck Spotify and other surveillance streamers.
