I hate the Covidians but I also feel incredibly sad for them. They are trapped in a time loop of their own creation, like the people who reminisce constantly about the 1950s. Many like one Twitter user I read and formerly liked will never or rarely leave their homes again.

Covid infected a lot of people mentally even if they never actually caught the virus. It has been such a strange thing to witness.

Agreed. One of the main reasons I wish there were more female characters in LOTR was because Tolkien wrote women very well indeed, and understood the bind in which they were caught in a patriarchal society. Éowyn is by far his best-written character, with the most comprehensible motivations.
