Smartphones are the worst thing to happen to computing. If I could go back in time to stop those from ever being developed I sure would.

For some reason, their advent caused designers and programmers to attempt to poorly port smart phone conventions and usage mechanisms to desktop computers where people need to get real fucking work done. That has gone about as well as you’d expect but those fucking idiot mooks cannot seem to stop doing it.

Smartphones and their depredations aren’t the only issue, of course; the whole “fire the QA department and let the users test your crap OS” is also a part of it. It’s amazing how much worse computing had gotten since the early 2000s. The marketers, MBAs and other species of clowns have totally won and there is probably no going back now.
