The Perks Workers Want Also Make Them More Productive.
The problem is that MBA types do not care about productivity. Not really. They care about control and power. Productivity and profit is almost always below those imperatives in their minds. They didn’t get into business to make profit, after all. Not most of them. No, they got into it and stayed there to be able to tell people what to do.
This is why more productive uses of worker time are not prioritized and harebrained return to office and other schemes are constantly foisted on us. Business would look vastly different if productivity was truly the primary concern.
