Different Dreams

Many women dream of an impossible world where only those attractive them are attracted to them — and only express that attraction when and where those women wish them to do so.

Most men dream of a world where anyone is attracted to them at all and expresses it ever. That’s quite a difference.

Marisa

Marisa Tomei for โ€˜My Cousin Vinnyโ€™ Is the Rare Perfect Oscars Win.

Agreed. She was so damn great in that part and I loved how many people got angry that a relatively-unknown model-turned-actor won for playing a lower-class person in a comedy film. That’s one of the few movies I’ve rewound (VCRs at the time!) 5-6 times just to see her parts again.

I agree with Tomei why so many people — inside Hollywood and out — were scandalized by the win.

โ€œWhen I was younger, it hurt my feelings,โ€ she said. โ€œIt made me quite ashamed, actually. But on the other hand, itโ€™s a load of [expletive]. I think it had to do more with the role that I playedโ€”that it was comedic and that it wasnโ€™t upper class. I think it was more of a classist thing, frankly.โ€

That is one of my favorite film perfomance of all time. And it still holds up to this day.

Just Hanging

The below really increased in the late 1990s. Not sure why it began, but I noticed bans on young people hanging out in public basically anywhere greatly expanding then. It’s probably not a coincidence that as Boomers got political power en masse is when this really ramped up.

Buggy Pod

Too many people really do be like: “It’s crazy that people don’t want to live in a pod and eat bugs! Why does anyone want to go outside or have a yard their kids can play in? That’s prole thinking! In the New Shiny Future, we’ll have collective everything and all will be shared.”

And that will work out about as well as it has every other time in the past it’s been tried….

Crop

My partner is hotter at nearly 40 than she was at 23. Contra the Fat Acceptance bozos, it’s just not true that you have to look like a bloated dumpster as you get older. She looks a whole lot better in a crop top than she did then (and even then, she looked damn good).

Working out fucking works motherfuckers.

Weirdly Caught

Boomers hiring managers called me a job hopper for having internships in college.

Boomers are weirdly caught up on job-hopping — when in reality, changing jobs is the only way these days that you can get a better salary. Even if you work at a company for 10 years, they will often hire someone for 40% more than you make doing the same job. Then when you complain that new hires are making far more for the exact same work, they will tell you that 40% raises just “aren’t done.” Then there’s no choice but to leave.

People generally don’t job-hop because they want to; it’s done so they can get what they are worth.

(Internships as in this case are a totally different thing, though, about which Boomers are also apparently dunces.)
