Lie About

More about this stupid Virginia Sole-Smith book and human behavior.

People want to be lied to. They deeply, deeply desire it. Especially if it’s about something that takes a bit of work to achieve.

The lie: No one can control their weight and being obese is perfectly healthy.

The truth: One can control one’s weight and being fit and thin is a vastly better experience than the opposite.

The difference between the two is that the latter takes diligence and effort and cannot be achieved overnight while the former means you can “intuivitvely eat” all the cake and ice cream you want any time you want, and that you can feed your kids absolute fucking slop so they get type II diabetes at age 14. Then you can absolve yourself of all guilt for this.

Which do you think most people will choose? Of course it’ll be the lie. This is exactly why that fucking stupid book will be a huge bestseller. The lie is just so much easier.

Fatwa

This is evil.

The Fat Acceptance bozos really are a terrorist movement. This is going to make so very many children’s lives worse and lead to preventable early deaths.

โ€œBut we donโ€™t have good evidence that body size itself causes poor health outcomes.โ€

This is absolutely 100% scientifically unsupported and a complete lie. She conflates a lot of unrelated items to reach this absolutely wrong conclusion. But hey, it sells books and makes the right people money.

I wonder how much food company payola she got under the table for writing this execrable book? I hate this idiot woman with every fiber of my being and you should too.

CG

You can tell that there is a huge amount of barely-repressed competition between women that just does not exist in the same way among men by how if there is an interesting woman in any media anywhere, she’s accused of being a “manic pixie dream girl” or a “pick-me” girl or the “cool girl.”

It’s fascinating to observe from someone who is not playing that game.

Opp

Got 70mm Imax tickets for Oppenheimer on August 5!

There are only 19 theaters in the US (and only 30 in the entire world) capable of projecting 70mm Imax. I’ve only seen two other films that way and they were gorgeous; this will be great I think.
