Etad

Glad I’m not in the dating market now because between tattoos and social media corrupting and perverting their minds, around 99.95% of women between 18-60 are completely undateable.

What a world.

Edifiers

I bought these speakers when they were more than $100 cheaper and they were worth it. Don’t think they are for $400, though.

Don’t get me wrong — they sound quite good. They are a real step up on the compy from my ancient Logitechs from the early 2000s. I can distinguish lyrics better now and the sound stage is much more separated and the bass less muddy. My advice, then, is wait till they drop back below $300 and snap ’em up. They are quite nice for that price.

They do have a wonky weird remote, though. Doesn’t bother me much but ymmv.

Update: Looks like you can snag them right on Edifier’s site for less than three bills. Still not quite as cheap as I managed to get them but worth it for that kinda cabbage.

In the Runnin’

The reason I have always liked Tom Petty’s “Runnin’ Down a Dream” so much is lyrics like these:

Yeah, runnin’ down a dream that never would come to me
Workin’ on a mystery, goin’ wherever it leads

Where I came from and how I grew up I knew early no opportunity was gonna come knocking. Nope, I was gonna have to chase that motherfucker overland, tranq dart it, zip tie its feet and hands and throw it in the trunk. And that’s exactly what I did.

All the people who weren’t tough from where I grew up are dead now. Funny, with how committed my dad and others were to telling me how weak and pitiful I was. Nearly all of those “tough” people are in cemeteries much too early now. How’d that work out, rat bastards? Looks like I got the last laugh there. And I’m honestly not bitter. I have a really great life. But it was real hard there for a while. So much harder than it shoulda been. Dancing on graves is the best expression of joy sometimes.

There’s something good waitin’ down this road
I’m pickin’ up whatever’s mine

Great line, “Pickin’ up whatever’s mine.” That’s what I had to do. Turns out I was pretty fuckin’ tough after all.

Recursus

Whatโ€™s something that didnโ€™t make sense when you went to another country?

When I go to any other Western country and then come back to the US — fucking everything.

We got no mass transit, our food sucks, poverty and decay is rampant, our health care is a scam and our people look like they been mating with water buffaloes. I know other countries have their problems but the US is by far the most third world of the first world countries. It’s not even close.

If I hadn’t met my current wonderful and amazing partner, I would’ve definitely gone overseas (pissing off all feminists, always a good thing) to meet a long-term partner. And no, it’s not because I can’t meet American girls. Met plenty. Almost all terrible because of the nature of our society. And it’s only gotten worse with insidious social media destroying minds left and right.

A good guide to life: do basically the opposite of what the Fat Acceptance people and modern feminists declare is good and you’ll be set.

Friendlike

Reminder: Nobody at work is your friend.

This a million fucking times.

People who actually think they have friends at work: LOL. Those people would throw you under the bus in a second if it meant they got to keep their job or get a raise. Have seen it too many times.

The people commenting there are fucking delusional. And yes, it’s okay to be friendly at work. But don’t think for a second that almost everyone you’re friendly with would not stab you in the back to get some advantage. Because they really would.

Runnin’ Down a Dream

This is probably First to Eleven’s best cover and depending on my mood, my favorite Tom Petty song.

One of the few songs with a really great outro. Better than the intro IMO. (And I never realized Audra had a lot of freckles till I watched this vid.) Damn good cover.
