Imp Awesible

Just knocked out another “impossible” celebrity workout. Also managed to do 140 pushups across three sets. It’s been quite a while since I could do that many.

Feels pretty good. I’ll keep doing my “impossible” workouts while all y’all tell me it cannot be done.

Amping

Being an ugly woman is exhausting.

I’ve dated women most people considered ugly and been very happy with the relationships. Personality goes a long way. So do shared interests. For women, appearance-wise most men care that you’re not obese more than looks. (And trust me on this — most men will never tell you. I will and in fact am.) You can amp your looks greatly in most men’s eyes by maintaining a normal BMI. (That she said she lacks curves implies she is already likely slim, though.)

And some men like big noses. I know because I am one of them! And some men also like fairly masculine women. Again, I am also one who does.

This sounds to me more like depression or perhaps just hanging with the wrong crowd or some combination of both; some people enjoy going out of their way to tell you how terrible and unattractive you are. I know that very well indeed because I grew up in North Florida.

Move on, hang in a better crowd and find someone who likes the you that is you — but there is also nothing wrong with tweaking your looks within reason to get the results you want.

Landed

Anytime I see “BLM,” I still think “Bureau of Land Management” and then I start wondering why the BLM is taking it to the streets and setting shit on fire.

And then I realize it’s not that BLM.

GGG

This is better than the album version of the song, despite the poor audio quality of the VHS rip. And speaking of outfits, I think Hope’s simple velvet skirt, high boots and sheer long-sleeve top over a medium-strap tank seen here is my favorite goth girl getup of all time*.

I like how forward the bass is in this version a lot. And this is also the rare song with a great outro.

*And by that, yeah, I mean she looks great in it, but just about any girl would look damn good in an outfit like this.

On Repeat

When you look around at average Americans, bloated, unhealthy, incurious, and incapable of walking across a parking lot without chugging harder than the 3:10 to Yuma, you almost feel like a different species comparatively. Blame it on capitalism, call it a choice, ascribe it to mind control rays emanating from Area 51 — but none of that makes it any better.

Do I think I am superior to most of them? Yes, yes, I do. Deal with it fuckos.

Been There

My family thinks I am dating under โ€œmy league.โ€

I’ve been on the other side of this. I was dating a really beautiful and gregarious girl from a decently well-off family. And at the time I was an army hard charger with no college education and was definitely more than a little rough around the edges. Her family absolutely despised me because they saw their daughter as way out of my league. By then, though, I was already doing a lot of stock trading and what the family did not know is that I was already pretty loaded for someone only 21 — and very ambitious.

It was this woman that I wrote about earlier.

It turned out that she was terrible and abusive. After me, she ended up with someone she deserved from what I heard, someone who treated her terribly (which is what she seemed to deeply want). Her career also fizzled and she became an obese barely-employed alcoholic completely dependent on her husband.

Meanwhile I continued to get more awesome every day. Love it.

Picking Up

Beneath the Skin of CPI Inflation, December: Not in the Mood to Just Go Away.

So, in other words, don’t believe the “transitory” lies and victory declarations. Inflation is picking up again. Not conspiracy — just data.

Core CPI, month-to-month, accelerated to 0.31% in December from October, the second month in a row of acceleration and fastest increase since September. Annualized, this increase amounts to 3.8%.

But these two commenters said it best, I think:

The narrative that the econs want you to believe is (as usual) the direct opposite of reality. Again, not conspiracy. The data is just right there for anyone to see.

Perversal of Fortune

Has been interesting to watch this reverse over the years:

1995: You’re on the internet and talk to people there? And even meet them sometimes? You’re some kind of bad and evil weirdo!

Now: You’re not on the internet and don’t meet people from the internet? You’re some kind of bad and evil weirdo!

Something you realize after living on the planet for a while is that people truly are herd animals and have very little (with rare exception) reflective capacity and don’t really consider anything deeply. When I was young, I thought that most people were more like me than turned out to be true. Most people, though, just go where their friends go and do what their friends do and very little else. That explains phenomena like Nazism and cults more than any other single factor.
